Apple has recently introduced Special Red Editions of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus in order to support the RED organisation (raises awareness and funds to help combat HIV/AIDS in Africa). Both models in new shade will be available in US market first, starting from April 13. Handsets are set to hit Indian markets in May, 2018. The latest RED edition iPhone features red glass enclosure, matching aluminum band and sleek black front.
Both the models will come in two storage options of 64GB and 256GB. Apple said that pre-booking for above said iPhones will start from 10th April and shipment for the same will start from 13th April in select countries including United states, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, and the UK. Company also stated that other countries including India will get the RED iPhones in any time of May and few regions will get the products by the end of April.
Coming to prices, The iPhone 8 Red 64GB is priced at $699 (approx Rs.67,999) while 256GB variant bears a price tag of $849 (approx Rs. 81,599). The Apple iPhone 8 Plus Red 64GB version comes at a cost of $799 (approx Rs. 77,599) while the upper storage option of 256GB is marked at a price of $949 (approx Rs. 91,100) only.
Along side these launches, company also introduced Leather Folio RED iPhone X cover which has been crafted from specially tanned and finished European leather for a luxurious look and feel. This came comes at marked value of $99 in US.
With these RED products, Apple is supporting the 11 year long partnership to support HIV/AIDS programs. The sales income from these products are utilized to provide testing, counselling, treatment, and prevention programmes with focus specifically on eliminating transmission of the virus from mothers to their babies.
