Co-founder denies cheating in Benchmarks of OnePlus 5

Ahead of the launch of OnePlus 5, a developer’s community XDA-Developers claims that OnePlus company played faulty to achieve top level performance in Benchmarks. However, co-founder of OnePlus 5, Pei denies any such activity done by the company to gain such top performing reviews of it’s processor.

OnePlus 5 cheating incident

To elaborate the reports, OnePlus 5 locks it’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor at it’s highest possible speed i.e. 1.9 GHz. Locking helps to maintain the temperature of the device to be normal, so as to avoid the case of thermal throttling. That is more than enough to push the Benchmark reports.

Company stood against these claims and in an official statement, company said that it is just to show how much the smartphone’s processor is capable to perform. It was a way to show the potential of OnePlus 5. Not only this, OnePlus co-founder, Pei clarified it on reddit by saying

OnePlus 5 only increases the performance of the Snapdragon 835 in the same manner that it does when the phone is running games or other resource-intensive apps, with its scores consequently being indicative of how well can the device perform under heavy load. The same behavior can allegedly be observed when the OnePlus 5 is launching apps because the Chinese original equipment manufacturer (OEM) wanted to make sure that its handset can switch between different tasks as quickly as possible.

Pei explained that OnePlus 5 smartphone is not overclocking on benchmarks but it is performing to the maximum of it’s potential. Apart from that, OEM (Chinese Original equipment manufacturer) founder says that, every OnePlus 5 smartphone contains the same code either one sent for benchmarks or the ones sold to consumers.
