Honor 8 will not receive Android Oreo, says company

This might come as a shock for Honor 8 users because Huawei fails to deliver its promise of providing Android 8.0 Oreo update on the handset. Through official twitter channel of Honor India, company confirmed that due to non-compatibility, Honor 8 will receive Android Oreo. On Monday, 15th January, 2018, Honor India in replying to a Honor 8 user said that;

“we can understand your concern. However, we regret to inform you that Honor 8 is not compatible for Android Oreo update due to hardware and software limitations. We always work for our customers and we are really glad to have you as an Honor customer. Inconvenience is regretted.”

The list of Huawei smartphones, that are likely to receive Android 8.0 Oreo update includes Honor 7x, Honor 8 Pro, Honor 8 Lite, Honor 9i in few weeks. Honor 8 was also part of this list as the latest development removes it from the list.

Honor 8 was launched last year and it was received very well globally, thanks to its glass panels and stupendous design. It forces company to roll out Android 8.0 Oreo update for the smartphone. But due to hardware and software non-compatibility, they failed to deliver the same. But it is difficult to understand, how a device like Honor 8 with top-notch features have software and hardware limitations but Nokia 2 with low-end specifications in confirmed to receive the Oreo update.

The Honor 8 smartphone packed a 5.2-inch LTPS IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display with 1080 x 1920 pixels screen resolution. It is powered by a Hisilicon Kirin 950 octa-core processor paired with 4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB internal storage. Smartphones offers a dual camera setup at the rear panel featuring 12 mega-pixel sensors and a 8 mega-pixel camera sensor on the front panel. It is backed by a 3000mAH battery.
