HTC today launched two mid-ranger smartphones, Desire 12 and Desire 12 Plus. These are the first HTC smartphones to feature taller displays with 18:9 aspect ratio in the mid-range price segment. We already knew most of the specifications, thanks to early rumors and leaks but now we have the detailed specs sheet for both. HTC announced these smartphones through a official page listing at United Kingdom website.
HTC Desire 12 Features, Price in India and Availability
The smaller variant, HTC Desire 12 sports a 5.5-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with 1440 x 720 pixels screen resolution and taller 18:9 aspect ratio. Display offers 74.2-percent screen to body ratio and 293 ppi pixel density. It is powered by a quad-core Mediatek MT6739 processor and PowerVR GE8100 GPU. In terms of memory configurations, it has 3GB RAM coupled with 32GB internal storage, which is expandable up to 400GB through a hybrid SIM slot (uses 2nd SIM slot).
Coming to camera internals, Desire 12 packs a 13 mega-pixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture supported with LED flash and PDAF. A 5 megapixel selfie camera sensor is installed with f/2.4 aperture and 1.12 µm pixel size lens. The selfie camera supports facial recognition technology, which is used as biometric authentication method to unlock the phone.
The HTC Desire 12 is charged up by a 2730mAh battery. It runs Android 8.0 Oreo and supports Dual nano SIMs. In terms of dimensions, it measures 148.5 x 70.8 x 8.2 mm and weighs 137 gram.
HTC Desire 12 Price in India is not disclosed yet neither we know about the availability of handset in country. But, company has disclosed the global price tag, according to that it is priced at EUR 185 (approximately Rs.14,999) and shipment will commence from next month. It will be available in Cool Black and Warm Silver shades.

Second one to see the surface is bettered version of first, HTC Desire 12 Plus with some souped up internals. It features a large 6.0-inch HD+ display (1440 x 720 pixels) with trending 18:9 aspect ratio and offers 76.7% screen to body ratio, 268 ppi density. It runs Android 8.0 Oreo and supports Dual SIMs through hybrid slot. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz speed. It features same memory configurations of smaller variant i.e 3GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage.
Desire 12+ sports a dual camera at the back featuring two sensors of 13 megapixel and 2 megapixel size. Dual camera comes handy with LED flash and supported features like f/2.2 aperture, PDAF, HDR, Panorama. It also packs a 8 megapixel selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture for low light photography.
The Desire 12 Plus features a 2965mAh battery which is said to offer 522 hours of standby time. The fingerprint scanner is mounted on the back side of handset. It measures 158.2 x 76.6 x 8.4 mm and weighs 157.5 grams.
HTC Desire 12+ Price in India is not known yet. However, it bears a global price tag of EUR 235 that approximately translates into Rs.18,900. It will be available in three colour options of Black, Silver and Gold. Availability in India is not confirmed yet, global shipment is slated to begin from April, 2018.
