Nokia 1 will feature Android Go, probably the first phone to do so, Expected in March 2018

Google has maintained silence over the names of entry-level smartphones to feature Android Go edition. But, the latest rumour suggests about Nokia 1 might feature the Android 8.1 Go operating system. Nokia 1 would probably the first smartphone to lead the Android Go program. Device is expected to debut in March, 2018.

Android Go is based on Android Oreo specially engineered for entry level phones with 512MB to 1GB RAM on board and comes with light weight apps, an optimised Google assistant and faster performance. Google announced the Go program in May, 2017 and finally launches it in November 2017. India should be the first market to get Go edition as large population here still uses low-budget smartphones.

The leak was un-curtained by a Veteran Leak specialist, Eldar Murtazin on twitter;

Nokia 1 is rumored to pack a 5-inch HD IPS display with 1080 x 720 pixels screen resolution. Device will feature dual sims and will run on lighter Oreo version, Android Go. It is also expected to have 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. Nothing is known about the optics on the handset yet. On the price front, it should cost around Rs.5,999 in Indian market.

Previously HMD Global launched Nokia 2 smartphone with low-end specifications like 5-inch HD LTPS display, 1GB RAM and 8GB storage. Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 chip that has a 1.2GHz quad-core CPU backed by a 4100 mAH battery. In terms of optics, it has 8 mega-pixel primary camera and 5 mega-pixel selfie sensor on the front. It cost around Rs.6,999 to Indian users.

Well, Nokia 1 is expected to be launched in March, 2018 and exact details will be out then. If above appears true then Nokia 1 will be the first smartphone to feature Android Go operating system. Apart from HMD Global, Huawei is also working on a smartphone to feature the same operating system.
