The entry-level smartphone from HMD Global, Nokia 2 will directly receive the Android Oreo 8.1 update. The lowest priced smartphone from the house of Nokia till date was launched globally in October with a price tag of EUR 99, later it was expanded into several other markets including India. In India, it rises with a price tag of Rs.6,999 or lower.
At the time of launch, Nokia 2 featured Android Nougat version 7.1 and being an entry-level phone, it was unlikely for it receive Oreo upgrade. But the recent tweet from Chief Product Office, HMD Global, Juho Sarvikas confirmed that Nokia 2 will soon be updated directly to Android Oreo version 8.1. It will also feature many integrations from Android Go as well. Along side, rumors of Nokia 1 launch supporting Android Go based on Oreo also emerged out.

Juho Sarvikas through his official twitter channel tweeted in a reply to user;
Hi! It will receive Android Oreo. 1GB RAM devices will be supported on 8.1 release where many of the Android Go memory management improvements will be integrated. Nokia 2 performance will only get better over time!
Nokia 2 is a low priced smartphone that packs a huge 4100 mAH battery. It has 5-inch HD display with screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz speed. In terms of optics, it sports a 8 mega-pixel rear camera sensor with LED flash and 5 mega-pixel sensor on the front for taking selfies. On the storage front, Nokia 2 packs 1GB RAM and 8GB inbuilt memory.
Juho Sarvikas confirmed the release of Oreo 8.1 for Nokia 2 but no specific time frame is announced for the roll out of update. Often companies forgot low-end devices after the launch. But Nokia is dedicated to enhance the performance of entry-level handsets as well, as reads the tweet.
