The Nokia 6 (2018) manufactured by HMD Global becomes the first smartphone to officially join Nokia family in 2018. After going through a series of leaks and rumors, finally handset is announced in China today. Just like Nokia 6 (2017) which was launched in January, 2017, newer edition took birth exactly after a year. Chinese retailer, Suning has started taking pre-orders and handset will go on sale starting from 10th January in China. International availability is not known yet but speculations suggests that within one or two weeks device will debut in India.
Nokia 6 (2018) Features
Basically, it is successor of Nokia 6 packing similar specifications except few major changes. It sports a 5.5-inch IPS Full HD display with screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Handset bears the same traditional 16:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is powered by 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 octa-core processor paired with 4GB LPDDR4 RAM. In terms of internal storage, phone will be presented in two variants of 32GB and 64GB.
If we get into the optics, mobile phone features 16 mega-pixel rear camera and another 8 mega-pixel shooter on the front panel. Both camera sensors have f/2.0 aperture for improved photographs in low light conditions. Phone takes simultaneous shots from both front and rear camera, these shots can be presented as ‘Bothie’, thanks to Dual-sight technology on the smartphone.
The dual SIM (in hybrid slot) Nokia 6 (2018) smartphone runs Android Nougat version 7.1.1 and likely to receive the android Oreo in few weeks because even low-budget Nokia 2 is also confirmed for Oreo 8.1 update. However, no official statement is made by company in this regard. Handset is backed by a Li-ion non-removable 3000mAH battery.
Last year’s edition featured featured fingerprint sensor on the front side of the panel. Although Nokia 6 (2018) continued with 16:9 aspect ratio, HMD global get the base trimmed and moving fingerprint sensor to the back side and removal of capacitive touch buttons also took place.
Nokia 6 (2018) Price and Release Date
Few days back, a report suggests launching of Nokia 6 in first week of January, 2018 and that appears totally true. As device is announced in China today and pre-orders for mobile phone is live through Suning retailer. First sale of Nokia 6 (2018) is slated for 10th January, 2018.
In terms of pricing, Nokia 6 (2018) 32GB variant comes with a price tag of CNY 1499 (approx Rs.14,999) while the 64GB variant cost around CNY 1699 (approx Rs.16,999).
No word is mentioned for international release yet. But handset is likely to debut in Indian market in few weeks.
