HMD Global outed five smartphones at Mobile World Congress Nokia launch event held on Sunday at Barcelona. The newly launched five smartphones from the house of Nokia are named as Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 1, Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 8110 4G. Nokia has not introduced the true flagship, Nokia 9, so fans needs to compromise with the dummy flagships as of now. Nokia 8 Sirocco Features, Price and Availability in India
Nokia 8 Sirocco is the redesigned version of previously launched Nokia 8 handset. In comparison to basic version of Nokia 8, the Sirocco is made up from precision-crafted stainless steel frame, that is 2.5-times stronger than the 6000 series aluminium. Nokia 8 Sirocco runs Android 8.0 Oreo operating system. It packs a 5.5-inch Quad HD p-OLED display with screen resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and offers traditional 16:9 aspect ratio. Display is protected by 3D corning Gorilla Glass 5. It is rated IP67 water and dust resistant. Handset is charged up with a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor where four cores are clocked at 2.5GHz and other four at 1.8GHz speed. In terms of memory department, it packs 6GB RAM paired with 128GB internal storage.
Talking about optics, Nokia 8 Sirocco sports a Dual rear camera featuring 12 mega-pixel wide angle lens with another 12 mega-pixel telephoto lens. The dual camera offers f/1.75 aperture and f/2.6 aperture and 1.4um and 1.0um respectively for both the lenses. Dual rear camera is completed by dual-tone LED flash as well as Zeiss optics. It also packs an 5 mega-pixel selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture, 1.4 micron-pixels and 84-degree field of view.
Nokia 8 Sirocco is powered by a 3260mAH capacity battery that supports Quick Charge 4.0 technology which is claimed to fill up 50-percent battery juice in just 30 minutes. Its battery also supports Qi Wireless Charging.
The Nokia 8 Sirocco has been priced at EUR 749 (roughly translates into Rs.59,999) without taxes. There is no official word on pricing in India but we have the idea of availability. Handset will be available to purchase starting from early April, 2018 in Black colour option globally while it will reach India in May, 2018.
Nokia 7 Plus Features, Price and Availability in India
Nothing is better than pure Android. On that statement, HMD Global has launched mid-ranger Nokia 7 Plus with trending 18:9 aspect ratio display, dual camera and stock android. Nokia 7 Plus runs stock android 8.0 Oreo without any customisations. It sports a 6-inch FHD+ display with 2160 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. Display offers 500 nits brightness and it is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. Body of smartphone is made of Aluminum with ceramic-feel coating. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core CPU where four cores are clocked at maximum speed of 2.2GHz and rest four are clocked at 1.8GHz speed. It features 6GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage which is further expandable up to 256GB using microSD cards.
Accounting camera department, Nokia 7 Plus also packs dual rear camera setup with two lenses of 12 mega-pixel and 13 mega-pixel. The 12MP wide angle sensor has 1.4um pixel lens and f/1.75 aperture while the 13MP telephoto sensor has f/2.6 aperture and 1.0um pixel lens. It’s dual rear camera is supported by a Dual-tone LED flash, 2x optical zoom and ZEISS optics on the top. Most importantly, it also packs a single 16 mega-pixel fixed focus selfie shooter offering f/2.0 aperture.
The Nokia 7 Plus is a charmer in every department as it packs a large 3800mAH capacity battery with quick charging technology. Battery is rated to deliver 19 hours of talk time and 723 hours of standby time in a single charge.
Nokia 7 Plus is priced at EUR 399 (roughly translates into Rs.30,999) exclusive of taxes. It will be available for first shipment in early April, 2018 in White/Copper and Black/Copper colour variants globally. It will arrive in India either in end of May or first week of June, 2018.
Nokia 1 Features, Price and Availability in India
The basic highlight of Nokia 1 is that it runs Android Go Edition based on Oreo. Android Go is specially engineered to offer latest android experience to tight-budget smartphones with low RAM options ranging between 512MB to 1GB. Nokia 1 also allows users to personalize their handset with the help of Xpress-on two-tone polycarbonate exchangeable covers. As talked earlier, Nokia 1 runs Android Go based on Android 8.1 Oreo. It sports a 4.5-inch FWVGA IPS LCD display with 854 x 480 pixels screen resolution. It is powered by 1.1GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6737M CPU coupled with 1GB RAM and 8GB onboard storage that is expandable to 128GB microSD card.
The Nokia 1 android Go smartphone packs a 5 mega-pixel snapper on the back side that has a fixed focus lens and supported by a LED flash. The rear camera is accompanied by a 2 mega-pixel selfie shooter on the front panel again with fixed focus. It is fueled by a 2150mAH capacity battery that is claimed to deliver 9 hours of talk time and up to 15 days standby time in a single charge.
Nokia 1 Android Go smartphone will be available for a mere price of $85 (translates into Rs.5,499) and start shipping in India from first week of April, 2018. Nokia 1 will be the first among five launched newbies from HMD Global to reach India and rest will follow.
Nokia 6 (2018) Android One Features, Price and Availability in India
The fourth handset that is launched by HMD Global at Mobile World Congress is the newer or redesigned version of Nokia 6 and latest one is dubbed as Nokia 6 (2018). This one is already launched in Chinese market last month but Global variant will be different because it will run stock android instead of customized one in Chinese variant. Nokia has partnered with Google to provide some pure android experience to its users.
The Nokia 6 (2018) Global variant runs stock Android 8.0 Oreo and supports Dual SIMs atleast for India. It sports a 5.5-inch FHD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio. Body is made up of two-toned anodization aluminium and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Smartphone is charged up by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 CPU that features eight cores clocked at 2.2GHz speed. Memory department does not disappoint fans because it will be presented in two variants of 3GB RAM clubbed with 32GB ROM and 4GB RAM paired with 64GB internal storage. microSD card slot is there for expansion of internal storage up to 128GB.
Nokia 6 (2018) features a powerful 16 mega-pixel camera on the back side that has 1-micron pixels lens, f/2.0 aperture and supported by dual-tone LED flash and ZEISS optics. Primary camera is friended by a 8 mega-pixel selfie shooter with 1.12-micron pixel lens and f/2.0 aperture.
Nokia 6 (2018) global variant packs 3000mAH battery that is claimed to provide 16 hours of talk time and up to 507 hours of standby time. Battery supports quick charge technology and company claimed that it will fill 50-percent battery juice in just 30 minutes.
The Nokia 6 (2018) is already launched in China. Global variant will offer stock android which Chinese variant failed to offer. The Global variant is priced at EUR 279 (approx. Rs.21,999). Global shipment will start from early April in Black/Copper, Blue/Gold and White/Iron shades. However, handset will reach India in Mid-May, 2018. This will follow up Nokia 1 in terms of Indian availability.
Nokia 8180 4G Features, Price and Availability in India
This one borrows the name from legendary Nokia 8110 without 4G. Latest one adds 4G VoLTE connectivity but features the same iconic design of curved slider phone. It will be categorized as 4G feature phone in market. So, The Nokia 8110 4G runs Smart Feature operating system powered by Kai OS and supports only single SIM. It has a 2.45-inch QVGA curved LCD display with 240 x 320 pixels of screen resolution. Most importantly it is charged by a Qualcomm chipset. Nokia 8110 4G is powered by a 1.1GHz Snapdragon processor coupled with 512MB RAM and 4GB onboard storage.
The Nokia 8110 4G also sports a 2 mega-pixel rear camera sensor and selfie camera is absent on the device. It packs a battery of 1500mAH capacity that is claimed to provide 9.32 hours of talk time on VoLTE network and 25 days of standby time on 4G network. It is rated as IP52 for water and dust resistance. Another noteworthy feature that is added is that call can be answered by sliding the phone, which was absent on the legendary version.
Nokia 8110 4G is an entry-level 4G feature phone that is priced at EUR 79 (approx. Rs.6,299) and global shipment will begin from May in Black and Banana colours. However, handset will be available in India from July, 2018. It will be the last phone to reach India among all the launched ones by HMD Global.
