Non-availability of support get un-noticed till users take to complain about the short-coming on OnePlus’s official community support forum. Users complained about lack of support for Widevine Level 1 DRM due to which they were unable to play videos in high-definition on online streaming platforms. A lot of customers starts blaming the company for the same. Handling the situation, company spokesperson said that it will be fixed through an software update in few days. Further adding, spokesperson said that OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T will soon receive the update and that will enable Widevine Level 1 support on these devices and users will be able to enjoy HD streaming there on. OnePlus flagships are certified with L3 security level, which does not allow playbacks at higher HD resolutions such as 720p and 1080p or higher. Various devices in the same price range do not support this certification. However, other devices support Google’s Widevine DRM at Level 1 which allows HD streaming support. But, OnePlus devices do not support this.

Netflix, Google Play services, Amazon Prime Video are the few streaming platform where users are facing the issue. Youtube streaming does not have that problem. Looking that a wide range of people watches Netflix and Prime Video, company quickly acknowledges the issue and promises update for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T smartphone.
