The first time, when any tip emerged for OnePlus 6 late in December, 2017 that handset will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor. It was not much late because OnePlus 5T arrived to the market last month and company was allegedly found working on the next flagship.
According to a report published at GizmoChina, the next OnePlus phone will arrive in Middle of March and will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and it will also feature a under-display fingerprint sensor. In an exclusive interview to CNET at Consumer Electronics Show, 2018, the company CEO, Pete Lau confirmed that next OnePlus flagship is on the cards and will be released in Q2 (June, 2018). He also stressed that it is sure to feature the latest Qualcomm processor as it is out tradition to always provide the latest to the customers. When asked about the name of upcoming flagship, he dodged the question. He did not confirm the unveiling of OnePlus 6T in the year 2018 itself.
This was the first instance when device got official confirmation. There is nothing much known about the device except the confirmation on chipset. Pete also added to bring facial unlock feature to OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T in the same interview.

Leaked images, said to be of next flagship of OnePlus
Third development in the timeline of OnePlus 6, happens to be live leaked images. These images confirms a iPhone X-like notched display and vertical dual rear camera setup on the phone. A Chinese technology blog posted few snapshots of upcoming OnePlus flagship phone and these snapshots hinted on few other internal configurations as well.
The first look shows a glass body design and bezel-less display with a notch, which is seen housing front camera sensors. Images reveals packing of 6GB RAM, 64GB internal storage and Android 8.1 Oreo on the top. On the back side, it houses a vertical dual rear camera and fingerprint sensor. These images are initial ones and does not came from authentic sources, so can’t be considered final.
Spotted on AnTuTu Benchmark with Model Name, A6000 | Date : 10th March, 2018
The next in the OnePlus 6 Timeline is spotting of handset taking Benchmark test at AnTuTu. Another leaked images, this time of AnTuTu score, surfaced on the web. According to these images, smartphone with model name OnePlus A6000 scored 2,76,510 beating score of every Android smartphone out there, further stresses that it will pack Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC.

Another development regarding the smartphone is that, it will support fastest data-connectivity ever provided in any OnePlus phone till date. According to XDA Developers, it is rumored to feature Cat. 16 Gigabit LTE connectivity offering downlink speed of 1.2 GB per second and uplink speed of 150MB per second. It will become the company’s first phone to feature latest LTE standards.
For your information, OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T came pre-loaded with Cat. 12 LTE connectivity offering downlink speeds of up to 600MB per second while OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T sported Cat. 6 LTE connectivity providing speed up to 300MB per second.
Appeared in firmware files with codename ‘Enchilada’ | Date : March 16, 2018
Some members at developers community dig into firmware files of OxygenOS Beta 4 update (pushed Android 8.1 Oreo to last edition) to find some information about OnePlus 6. They found some references to a special codename ‘Enchilada’ into a new APK settings file, this codename was found along side two other code names “cheeseburger” and “dumpling” which referred to OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T respectively.
Further digging into the same firmware files, a images attached to same code name as said above, shows a notched design on the display.

Recently, Oppo has outed Oppo R15 and R15 Dream Mirror Edition in China and with the history of sourcing designs from Oppo, OnePlus might feature same design for OnePlus 6 as well. Vivo, Oppo and OnePlus are sister companies and falls under same group, BBK Electronics.
In the past, OnePlus 5T inherited its design from Oppo R11s. So, it is concluded by Gadgets360, that the upcoming flagship might also inherit few or more design and features from R15. Along side, Vivo X21 UD has been launched with under-display fingerprint sensor, further stresses the rumour that OnePlus 6 might feature an under-display fingerprint scanner.
Price of OnePlus 6 leaks for first time, said to be most expensive OnePlus phone ever but with smaller margin | Date : March 21, 2018
With the leaked pricing details, upcoming OnePlus flagship will enter the league of premium flagships in terms of pricing. According to few screenshots appeared on a Chinese mobile network website, OnePlus 6’s price will be higher than last outing with a smaller margin. Going by the images, it will be priced at USD 749 which roughly translates into INR 48,999. But, this might be a confusion, because other leaked prices in the same image of smartphones such as Apple iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus does not corresponds to their actual prices in United states. However, these prices fits perfectly for Canadian market.

So, if we convert Canadian 749 dollars, then it translates equivalent to Rs.38,500 for OnePlus 6, which is slightly higher than the 8GB variant of OnePlus 5T.
This leak also suggested few specifications such as unveiling of 256GB storage variant coupled with 8GB RAM, packing of larger 6.2-inch display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 and dash charging support. Latest development reveals about a vertical dual rear camera featuring 16 megapixel and 20 megapixel image sensors.
Specifications Sheet leaked, reveals major internal configurations | Date : March 23, 2018
OnePlus 6 Timeline has got a new update, as specifications sheet leaked from informational guide of the phone. As reported by TechSlize, the sheet refers to the model name OnePlus A6000, the name which relates to the AnTuTu Benchmark as stated above.
The leaked specs sheets suggests that it will sport a 6.28-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a stylish notch, 19:9 aspect ratio and 1080 x 2280 pixels screen resolution. It is said to run Android 8.1 Oreo at the top. It will be powered by Snapdragon 845 chipset clocked at maximum speed of 2.7GHz. The sheet went to expose about optical internals as well stating a dual camera on the backside panel featuring 16 megapixel and 20 megapixel sensors, both offering f/1.7 aperture. Smartphone is also tipped to feature a 20 megapixel selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture.
According to the same sheet, upcoming OnePlus flagship will be fueled by a 3450mAh battery and said to come in 6GB/128GB memory variant. This one is said to 7.5-mm in thickness and weighs around 175 gram.

First high resolution picture of OnePlus 6 leaked, suggest wooden back | Date : 28th March, 2018
Very trusted leak expert, Evan Blass teased and later posted an high resolution picture of the device in talk. This new image outlines earlier speculations that smartphone will come with glass back. Current image reveals a wooden back with sharp finish, just like we have seen in the first edition, OnePlus One.
The image shows a headphone jack, USB-C port, traditional placement of volume buttons, speakers and logo. Image also shows a square-shaped fingerprint sensor and above that, vertical dual camera sits.
The glass and wooden back panel suggests scope for wireless charging support for the OnePlus 6, however making such assumption is limited to our minds till we get any official confirmation.
If this image appears to be true, than the upcoming flagship will be a threat to recently launched Galaxy S9, which is regarded as the best android smartphone in the market yet.
Spotted at GeekBench, Another variant hits AnTuTu benchmark | Date : 28 march, 2018
The OnePlus 6 timeline of leaks and rumours have got pace over last two days, back to back developments in relation to handset are emerging. This time, upcoming OnePlus 6 flagship phone was spotted in GeekBench listing, also a new variant of phone hits AnTuTu benchmark as well. Previously, standard variant of smartphone scored 276510 in AnTuTu benchmark.
According to GeekBench listing, it scored 2,546 for single-core and 8,672 for multi-cores. Same listing also confirms Android 8.1 Oreo, Snapdragon 845 and 6GB RAM. On the other hand, in AnTuTu listing, it scored 2,63,398 and listing reveals few of its specifications such as 64GB/6GB (lower variant), 2280 x 1080 pixels resolution and QS 845.

In an interview to The Verge, company founder, Carl Pei confirmed the embracing of notch on the phone and explained in’s and out’s of notch. He went on to add the offering of largest display ever in any OnePlus device yet, with 90% screen to body ratio. He points that we wanted to give more screen space to the users and notch is currently the best way for that. He also overrides the speculation that next OnePlus flagship will import the design from Oppo R15 by adding that these two devices won’t be identical in look or features.
First official look of notch
Carl Pei credited Apple iPhone X as the inspiration for the upcoming phone and said that Apple “accelerates the adoption of things within the industry”, at least, “where it makes sense.” He talked about the size of notch and explained that ours will be between the size of Essential Phone and iPhone X. He explained that they don’t needed a large size notch because OnePlus 6 won’t contain a dot projector, as required by iPhone X’s Face ID technology. Notch will house earpiece, front camera, ambient light sensor, and LED notification light.
He adds that they have tested over 1,000 top applications in Playstore for the compatibility with the notched display. The clock icon in the status bar will be moved to the left side to provide proper space for other icons. The notch will be hidden when users will play videos on full screen. Closing the interview, he finally states that we are currently testing for navigational gestures, to remove the screen navigational buttons.
A new report suggest new launch date for the flagship smartphone | Date : April 2, 2018
While company is busy explaining the reasons why notch is important for OnePlus 6, a new report surfaced on the web claiming the new release date as early as April end. Yes, the upcoming smartphone might release by the end of April, 2018 and it is expected to bear price tag of CNY 3,299 (approx Rs. 34,200) for 64GB version, CNY 3,799 (approx Rs. 39,300) for 128GB variant. And top end model packing 256GB internal storage is claimed to cost at CNY 4,399 (approx Rs. 45,600).
Along side, a back case was seen in a live photograph suggesting design of handset from back side. The case suggests a vertical dual rear camera setup positioned in center.

From the last couple of months, we were wondering about the official announcement of the name of phone and for the first time, company took twitter to post first teaser video confirming the moniker, OnePlus 6.
The company put a super short video on twitter of 4 seconds only. This video focused on offering great speeds as the text in the video reads, ‘The speed you need’, teases the presence of latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor on the phone. This video was captioned ‘6et ready’. Apart from this, a new section for 6th edition goes live on official company forums.
It was also spotted on a WiFi certification website, tipping on several specifications such as Android 8.1 Oreo, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, and Qualcomm’s latest WCN3990 Wi-Fi modem. However, listing got removed later on.
OnePlus 6 256GB storage variant confirmed, Avengers Special Edition likely to arrive | Date : April 3, 2018
OnePlus CEO Pete Lau through a forum post revealed some important specifications of the device. He disclosed the information that phone will be presented in 256GB storage variant pairing with 8GB RAM. He also stresses that it will support 4K video recording and will offer faster user experience in comparison to predecessors. He wrote that, “Within the OnePlus R&D team, we have a specialised team called Team FSE (Fast, Stable, Efficient). Their focus is solely on maximising the power of our flagship devices.”
He did not talk about launch date and pricing of handset. Alongside a teaser video was posted on company’s official facebook page of India revealing its partnership with Marvel Studios. The video at the end shows at the end shows the poster of Avengers: Infinity War. By going back to history, we came to know that OnePlus 5T star wars edition was launched last year at the arrival of actual film. So, we can safely assume that latest OnePlus 6 flagship phone Avengers Special Edition is likely to arrive by the end of this month only as film is releasing on 27th April. It will allow users to hide the notch, confirms CEO | Date : 4th April, 2018
Right after the official confirmation on notch design, it has garnered controversies because a large community of users were not happy with this development. Although, CEO Pete Lau explained why it is necessary to have a notched design display (as discussed above), users are not satisfied with the explanations. Now he said that, users will get an option to blackout the space used for notifications and notch. Although he advised to use OnePlus 6 with notch, so as to get full display viewing experience.
He explains that hide out the notch was actually thought upon in initial development stages of phone but all experts were against using it. Now so many users provided their feedback and wanted blackout option. The feature will be rolled out through software update as device is final stage of launching. Hide the notch feature was last seen in Huawei P20 smartphone which was launched few days back.
Alert Slider teased to offer ‘Slide to focus’ option | Date : April 5, 2018
A new teaser video is posted on company’ official twitter channel hinting some cool feature for camera. The video shows slide to focus option for camera using alert slider. The video teaser also shows big Six blinking several time further confirming the naming scheme for upcoming smartphone.
In previous editions OnePlus5 and OnePlus5T, the Alert Slider has been used to change user profiles – namely Do Not Disturb, Ring, and Silent. The company could possibly roll out new Alert Slider capabilities to older phones through future software updates.

According to a leading news website, Deadline, The special Avengers edition confirmed to release very soon. It’s excerpt reads as, “OnePlus smartphones in the UK are coming out with their own Infinity War edition, which includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. It’s a banner phone storage-wise for the OnePlus line.”

A case maker at MobileFun has listed the cases for OnePlus 6 revealing the final design of upcoming flagship from front and back. From these cases, a notch is unsurprisingly visible, vertical dual rear camera on the rear panel is aligned to the center, LED flash is placed below the snappers and fingerprint sensor is right underneath it.
