Android Enthusiast might have a relief of joy as OnePlus is working on the successor of OnePlus 5, most probably be dubbed as OnePlus 6. Company’s CEO in an interview to CNET confirmed that next flagship smartphone will be released by the end of Quarter 2, 2018. Last month a leak hinted on Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC for next flagship device and recently Company CEO confirmed the news.
Pete Lau, Chief Executive office, OnePlus in an exclusive interview to CNET confirmed that next OnePlus flagship handset will be launched latest by the end of June, 2018. He didn’t took the name of the handset but going by the tradition followed by company, we can safely assume it to be OnePlus 6. He also said that company is ready to take its table talks to US carriers this year and make the deal, which Huawei failed to crack. He adds, “If the right opportunity and right timing come along, we’ll be very happy to experiment,” he however declined to answer the exact time frame for the deal.
When asked if next flagship smartphone will feature recently announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, he replied in positive by adding that “Of Course, we don’t have a choice.” Last outing from company, OnePlus 5T featured Snapdragon 835 chipset. A recent rumor suggested that handset will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Apart from Chinese mobile maker, Samsung is also ready to launch Samsung Galaxy S9 with the latest Qualcomm processor in Mobile World Congress, 2018 to be held at Barcelona in February.
We are not sure if OnePlus 6 will get the ‘T’ variant or not. But, if we look into the customs of company from last two years, where OnePlus 3 was followed by ‘3T’ and OnePlus 5, followed by ‘5T’, it can be concluded that second variant will be on the cards in 2018 itself.
