Much anticipated Android 8.0 Oreo update finally rolls out for OnePlus 5 flagship smartphone. Fulfilling the promise, company after two beta open updates starts providing OxygenOS 5.0 update based on latest in the street Android Oreo. Update is being provided as incremental update and initially rolled out for few users and will soon reach more users. Apart from this, OnePlus 5 is now confirmed to get the face unlock feature that was present on OnePlus 5T.
OTA OxygenOS 5.0 update rolls out with December Security patch for OnePlus 5
Chinese smartphone maker, OnePlus on Friday through its official forum confirmed that Oreo based OxygenOS 5.0 update has started rolling initially via over-the-air (OTA). In few days, it will reach to more users. Update brings out many changes like optimization of Launcher, certain camera improvements (improvisation took place in UI design, beauty effect for the preloaded Portrait mode and quality of photographs optimizations), some system improvements (includes parallel app feature that allow users to have multiple accounts on the same app and system upgrades), history feature in calculator, alarm calendar feature in Clock app, new design for quick settings and improvements in lift-up display. Update brings the December security patch to OnePlus 5. Other than these changes, Android Oreo features like PIP, smart text selection comes naturally to the device.
Apart from the update, OnePlus co-founder, Carl Pei, through his official twitter account wishes everyone Merry Xmas and announced a confirmation to get OnePlus 5T’s face unlock feature on OnePlus 5 in the next upgrade. He tweeted;
Previously, it was reported that no OnePlus device support HD streaming on Netflix and Amazon Prime. A promise was made by company to provide an incremental update for both OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T as well. However, this update does not looked into that problem. We just hope that OnePlus soon took care of that issue as well.
