29 reviews for Lenovo S560
Note : **Some of the reviews are picked from flipkart, Amazon and other e-stores.

  1. Rated 4 out of 5

The Lenovo P780 is an exceptional phone to my knowledge and as per my requirements… About the specifications of the phone, you can read other reviews and will get comprehensive evidence that the phone stands out in many of it’s features…

This review is mainly for those who have doubts about some issues they are or may face… and after I have used it for more than 4 months thus far:

    1. Internal Memory (8GB): It is divided into 2 segments –
    (i) Internal storage [This is mainly for installing your apps](Total space 4.38 GB) – After I’ve installed my apps (which includes 14 games (Trials Frontier, Galaxy Legend, Gunship Battle, RoboCop, RealSteelWRB, Hungry Shark, Lawless, Firefight, Smash Heat, Mutant Roadkill, Can knockdown 3 and other Can you escape games in addition to the pre-installed Asphalt 7…. Other apps like Evernote, FB, JetAudio, SketchbookX, WhatsApp, Viber, Skype, Instagram, Vonage + a couple more) I still have 1.50 GB available for more apps… Of course, I’ve moved some of the Games App files to an external SD Card (16GB)…
(ii) Built-in Storage [This is mainly for your files, docs, photos, videos etc.](Total space available 2.87GB) – I still have 2.04GB available, inspite of not having stored anything in that… some of the space is used up by Lenovo/ Android system files.

    2. External SD Card for additional storage (supports upto 32GB)

    3. Issues regarding USSD notifications (For prepaid connections regarding call usage and balance): I used to use an app that was available called “USSD to Notification”… which resolved that issue… but, now I’ve uninstalled it since that issue and many other issues have been addressed in the firmware upgrade P780_8G_ROW_S124_140403…
    4. Wifi and network connectivity: This was never an issue as my phone was able to connect to my wifi router from more than 1700 sq. feet… that is, I live in an apartment and I could access my wifi from my neighbour’s flat as well as from my balcony…
Some who may have issues with this, I’d suggest updating your firmware to the latest one: P780_8G_ROW_S124_140403…

    5. Dual Sim: I use Vodafone(3G) and Airtel (2G)… Both work fine without any issues… However, I have noticed that when I swap Airtel to Sim1 and use 3G on Airtel the battery drains out faster than when I use Vodafone 3G… so, I’ve stopped using Airtel 3G and stick with Vodafone… This is specific to my area of operation in Bangalore…

    6. Battery use: With both sims installed and usage of social networking apps like fb, whatsapp, instagram and atleast half-an-hour of intense gaming in addition to calls, I get 2 full days of usage on a single charge…. With lesser usage I sometimes get upto 3 days…

*Important observation:* I’ve noticed that the battery starts draining quicker as new apps are installed and over a period of a week or two…. This is where Lenovo’s Battery Calibration tool comes handy…. When you feel the battery is not lasting as it used too… I suggest you first reboot your phone or drain the battery 100% then run the Battery Calibration atleast once a month… and the battery again will start to last longer.

    7. Operating Temperatures: When the phone is charging the temperature goes upto 45°C so never use the phone (all cellphones)… During intense gaming: the temperature goes up to 40°C…. and during normal usage of browsing, fb, whatsapp, calls, watching videos for upto 2 hours, the temperature stays within the range of 30°C to 35°C…

    8. OTG Cable: An excellent accessory provided by Lenovo where I can connect an external USB/ pen drive and access my files, movies, music… I’ve tested it for upto 8GB pen drives and it works flawlessly… Also, I was able to charge my Samsung Tab 3 with it… 🙂

    9. Update your firmware: This is very important, since it fixes many issues like network an wifi if you have and video playback issue where you can now use the seek to move forward into the video….

    10. Calls: When you are outside and there is heavy traffic sound or in a train or railway station, use the feature of the smart sound that Lenovo provides, your caller will be surprised at the noise cancellation and won’t believe that you are actually out… But, when you are indoors, DISABLE the smartsound otherwise your caller on the other end will not be able to hear you well.

    11. Music & Camera: Music app (Google Player is rubbish) JetAudio provides superior sound and equalizers to enhance your listening experience… Stock Earphones are OK not great… Camera is exceptional, if you know how to efficiently use it…. Low light photos are not so great, but otherwise day shots are pretty good….

Lastly but not least, the delivery from Flipkart was exceptional, I ordered the phone at 6pm on 17th Jan and to my surprise got delivery on 18th Jan at around 1 pm.. that is less than 24 hrs…. Kudos man!!

I hope this review was useful to someone…. Enjoy your phone. 🙂

I Bought this phone 8 months back. There was some problem with first set. Flipkart was kind enough to replace. Phone worked good for 5 months. Then problems started. Its so called monster battery started draining very fast. Initially it used to give backup upto 40 hrs but now just 24 hrs .I removed power consuming apps, reset and no improvement. I was OK with even 24 hrs battery life but soon its mobile network failed. Both sims show just a cross near tower icon and searching all the time for network. Again I updated official firmware and kitkat update, problem was not solved. I went to lenovo service center at Vashi and now biggest frustration-

Lenovo said phone can not be covered under warranty. Reason – two screws on back sideways are missing. There was supposed to be a seal also on one of those screws which now was obviously missing.

I have never opened this mobile. Had I opened, seal on battery must have been also broken which it wasn’t. When I received mobile there was only one seal on the back, which was on battery, to give caution about warranty. It means when I received mobile, there were no sideways screws or extra seal. How a naive customer (other than one working in lenovo service center) is supposed to know about a missing seal and screws?
Only explanation to this, I was supplied a phone by flipkart for which warranty was already void. Furious with this cheating by flipkart, I complained to them sending picture of mobile etc. I was told by customer care that we supply genuine product blah blah blah and they cant do any thing. They refused to take any responsibility and also never sent a final reply on mail, just one sentence that we tried to contact you but I was unreachable. Now I AM STUCK WITH THIS NONWORKING JUNK PHONE.

    Dear FK,
do you also want to become like other traditional Indian companies who earn customer’s trust in the beginning by luring them with offers etc and then try to earn profit by supplying faulty and tempered products? Probably I was supplied a repaired and tempered phone when I asked for replacement within one month. Your whole online business runs on one thing – trust. Which now is broken atleast with me. Shall we get our phone checked with authorized dealer once we receive it from you? And what am I supposed to do now? I will see your honesty if you do not remove this feedback and let other customers read about my worst experience with you.

    Happy selling, our suffering

Ive always been a Samsung user. Picked up this phone to break the cycle.

Have been using it for 3 days now feedback as below:

    1. Battery life is amazing. I used it for close to 40 hrs (approximately 6 hrs 3g) and I still had 5% left to let me go for another hour.

    2. When I first charged my phone after the first complete cycle the battery charged a bit too fast and drained faster. I thought the phone was defective, but then its just one of lenovos tools that are available to correct the issue. A battery calibration, post running that the phone worked like a charm. The power tool installed on the phone gives you an amazing insight on the battery use and time available.

    3. Refreshing UI – After getting bored of the Samsung touch wiz, Lenovo has come with some brilliant UI and animations. It has an inbuilt clean up app, a lotus widget and a magic weather widget. Most of the preinstalled games and apps (other than proprietary apps) are uninstallable, thereby reducing the bloatware factor. It has 6-7 inbuilt themes which are really cool. The phone has zero lag on the UI. It has Super gallery which is styled to display videos and photos in a windows 8 tablet format.

    4. Camera: Rear 8mp : Pictures indoor are noisy, but when you switch to HDR mode it clears to give good pix. Front cam: The front cam is VGA so don’t expect much. Good modes and zero lag between pictures getting clicked

    5. The 8gb version of the phone gives the user 2.21 gb for apps and 2.8gb as built in storage apart from 32 gb expandable storage.

    6. Though the phone is not unibody the battery cannot be removed, however Lenovo has provided a rest button to use in the phone in case it hangs.

    7. Looks: Absolutely brilliant. Full metal back cover which acts as radiator and keeps the phone cool at all times. The phone though heavy is very easy to grip in one hand and use with ease. For phone with such a big battery the weight and thickness are not comparable, its pretty slim. The HD dispay complements the phones looks.

    8. Gaming: Candy crush, subway surfers, temple run work perfect with no lag, however its not a device meant for 3d games.

    9. Built in google keyboard with the slide feature. Gesture support is available on the phone. eg you raise the phone to the ear and it auto answers, when the phone rings it you lift the phone the volume of the ringtone decreases etc.

    10. Sound Quality: The speakers are placed in such a manner even if place the phone on the back and listen to music/ watch movies there is no distortion or muffling of the sound. Crystal clear!.

    11. Call quality – the noise cancellation mics on the phone are brilliant!! Crystal clear sound with no disturbance. Truly one of the clearest phones.

Overall im extremely happy with the phone. Yes if the front cam was 2 mp and the ram was 2gb it would have been an even more awesome phone, but for now this is the phone to buy if your budget is 18K. I was thinking about the canvas, however trusted the Lenovo brand over it and am really happy about the same.

  4. Rated 5 out of 5

This is a good phone. Apps run smooth with minimal lags. Call clarity is excellent. Out of 8 GB, user available memory is around 4 GB. You will see only 4 GB as that is what is meant for you.
Those people who are calling it sub standard, untested and blah blah blah its a sincere request to them: Kindly stop copy pasting reviews from GSM Arena.

Some dweeb has a bad experience with a particular unit which is not even a Lenovo P780 but some entry level Lenovo phone, most probably due to his own ill handling of the device and he is out to blast the whole product range. Illogical and irrational.

The 4000 Mah battery will give you ample power backup for at least two days. As an add on feature it can charge other phones as well. The design is sleek and looks are truly of an elite business class device. Unfortunately the price was reviewed hence it shot back up to 18 k plus. Talking of dual sim units it beats Samsung Galaxy Grand hands down. Be it the screen, battery or UI. If you are seeking a dual sim unit this is the one which offers the best value for money. The other dual sim device in the market Sony Xperia C is clearly overpriced. Wait for prices to come down if Sony is your ultimate choice. To compete with P780, Sony will have to revise its prices. Micromax, well i had considered it as an alternative to P780 before going ahead with my purchase but considering Canvas’s dual sims and only 2000 mah battery power its going to be dead in half a day or so. Dual sims consume more battery than single sims. So a 4000 mah battery is a well thought move by Lenovo. Rest Lenovo’s reputation as a laptop/PC manufacturer is without any question “impeccable”. So i wont be comparing Micromax with Lenovo as regards industry reputation. Lenovo diversifying its business into smartphones augurs well for Indian smartphone market. Yes they are new to this segment but the technology and price at which these smartphones are being offered is simply worth it.

And yes i have not been paid by Lenovo to write this review. 😀
I was astonished reading the utter crap which is being posted by misinformed guys against this particular model. For their information i am very happy with my purchase and my device is performing brilliantly.

I am using this phone for 1-2 weeks. I have bought many products from Flipkart as its very easy and convenient to shop. But I am writing review for the first time as its an awesome product I got.

Before buying this product I was searching good samsung phone as I was used to use that. Suddenly this one caught my eyes.

The main attraction was the battery life, CPU & GPU.

Battery is the best one currently at the market. I use the phone at it’s fullest. Still I dnt have to charge it ofter. It runs more that 2 days without charging for me. even if I play games on mobile.

secondly the CPU & GPU are almost same powerful as Galaxy S4 at a price of 18K only.
Ram is quite good (1 GB) … some people saya it would be better if it was 2GB. But I didn’t feel the need yet. I never saw any lag in this phone soo far. And how much more can you expect when you are getting soo much for soo less price.

The image quality is quite good (294 ppi). Screen is a bit large ( 5 inch) initially was having problem to hold, But it it fits perfectly to my hand 🙂

Though I wasn’t looking for a good camera in phone as I prefer to rely on normal cameras to take pictures, But the cam in this device gives quite nice photo.

Only thing it I didn’t find much accessories for this phone in the local market as its very new model. Last day I bought a screen guard from Flipkart only and I am waiting to a flip cover to find in the market.

If your budget is 20K or even 25K I would suggest you to buy this one. I have no idea about phones beyond 25K …

the Phone a 780 , developed a defect in 5 days ( was out of town so could not exchange the ph) the list of defects have been growing in the past 3 weeks too .

finally the Ph has been in repairs after 35 days of use.
in mumbai what they say are service center which are are actually pick up points.
the wait period to get your ph checked is 2 days, followed by possible 15 day wait period should it need any parts. as I was given to understand by the service engg.
be carefull as service seems to be very sketchy.

    Hello All,

I bought a lenovo-p780 from flipkart and they sent me a warranty seal broken (Sharp Cut on the warranty sticker) cell phone.

And even they have not sent me it’s warranty card.

Moreover; they have sent me it’s purchase bill, once I escalated all, I have been told; about seal broken they wiil get back to me in next 24Hrs and for bill i have to place a separate request and this will take 5days to send a soft copy of a bill. It is around 6-7 working days no one entertained me.

    I escalated matter to: ;

Note: Once phone delivered to you must check the warranty seal which is on battery, warranty card, and invoice.

    Update after 3 months usage:
Lenovo P780 phone has very serious flaw and that is with its network reception.
The Sim1 slot is 3G enabled but does not work often in places where other phones receive reasonable 3G signal.
The Sim2 slot keeps on indicating that SIM not detected, one needs to reboot often to correct this issue.
Also the phone does not show the prepaid usage charges notification after each call or SMS.

I am going to get rid of this phone.

Below is what I felt in January, when I had recently bought the phone. Sorry if the review below made somebody buy this product.
Bought this phone in Jan first week from Flipkart paid exactly Rs.17K for the 8 GB model.
Added a 32GB class 10 microSD card and have indulgently been playing with it since the time I got it in my hands.
The best feature is the 4000 mAh battery, lasts me three full days of heavy 3-4 hours usage with wifi, video playback, music player and installing uninstalling lots of apps.
Screen display is excellent, images and videos look crisp and brilliant.
Lenovo UI is decent and lean but I am still tinkering with Yandex shell, which works very well on this hardware.
Speaker sound is loud and clear.
No lags, no hanging, no juggling with memory management.
Am just love this device. No complaints with the phone 🙂
Cons: Flip cover not available in market, only one decent option on Flipkart which is pricey.

  9. Rated 5 out of 5

Like others, I too did lot of research and visited many shops only to find HDFC’s 10% cash back offer lucrative enough to buy this phone.

    1. Amazing battery life with customized Power Meter
    2. Android hasn’t hanged till now
    3. Super build quality
    4. Amazing colors & clarity
    5. Memory Cleaner application
    6. Dual SIM Phone
    7. Excellent Camera with lot of photo editing features inbuilt
    8. Lot many useful applications and customization features already installed
    9. In spite of the Battery non-removable there is a Reset button available
    10. Value for money under 18K

    1. No Screen-guard or Phone cover available in the market
    2. The back portion of the Phone is little slippery so you will have to get used to
    3. Seems a little heavy when compared to other phones I used. But it doesn’t make much difference to me.

Recommendation: Please do buy 8 GB storage model. There is another 4GB model available as well.

  10. Rated 5 out of 5

    1. Long battery life.
    2. 10 point multitouch (not 5).
    3. Casual games works fine even some high end games (no lags).
    4. UI is totally customized and u r gonna love it.
    5. Rear camera is good even in low light, can record video at 1080p (not 720p).
    6. Lenovo launcher is good, comes with lots of animation and customizable options.
    7. Good quality gold plated in ear type head phones.
    8. Small led notification light.
    9. Total 8gb internal, nearly 5.6gb will be user accessable (2.8gb for app installation and 2.8gb for internal sd card) rest is used by the operating system.
    10. Stop all option in running apps, also have ram cleaner inbuilt.
    11. Charger in package have a huge output of 2A, so charging will be very faster with the given charger.
    12. Screen is good for a 720p display with 294 ppi (don’t compare with 1080p screens), colors are natural.
    13. Sound from the earpiece is good, no distortion and back speakers are very loud.
    14. Touch response is very good.
    15. Lots of sensors total 12 according to cpu-z app, some of them are…
Proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, magnetic sensor, gyroscopic sensor, acceleration sensor….. rest u find urself.

    1. Lenovo launcher is good but laggy, so I use Nova launcher – fast with lots of animation and customization.
    3. Found lots of noise in camera picture when zoomed otherwise pic is just fine. Hold the camera still for noise free picture.
    4. Front camera is not so good but fine for casual video chat in well lighted environment.
    5. Ram is always nearly 50% filled up, but strangely resource hungry games and apps works without any lag or issue, so it is not my concern.
    6. The automatic USSD notifications are not shown (balance after a call or remaining internet balance after disconnecting from internet) but if u process a USSD then it is shown fine, problem is solved using a app – USSD TO NOTIFICATION. Anyway the problem is a software problem not a hardware one so lenovo will soon solve it with any update.

As u can see the device not perfect but the problems are not that great and each of them have solutions. And u r not gonna get any device without any cons. So don’t think twice and go for it.

Lastly I have read other reviews of the phone having some problem in flipkart, well I feel sorry for them but as can see those are not general device fault. If u have got a faulty device u can get a replacement from the flipkart those are just manufacturing faults.
