28 reviews for Lenovo Tab S8
Note : **Some of the reviews are picked from flipkart, Amazon and other e-stores.

    1. Product was faulty.! with Mic not working

    2. Asked for return and replacement.! which Never Happened.!
    Received product on 28th May
requested for return and replacement on 10th June
    Since then nothing happened.

    3. Every time I call flipkart so called customer service executive says within 24hrs I will get call with resolution. And I feel the time has frozen @ flipKart like 24hrs never happened.. And I never got a call.

So All in All Overall experience is pathetic. This experience has made me not to buy anymore from FlipKart.!

    Update 2 : 05-02-15 (After 2 month of usage)
Update 1 : 12-12-14 (After hours of usage)
    =======================
Delivery: Opted for standard delivery and received the tab in less than 36 hours.

    Packing: As usual great

Package content: Confused here as Flipkart has mentioned earphones which is not part of the package, not printed on the box either. But I got FREE Sennheiser HD 202 II headphones as launch offer.

One more thing that is not mentioned anywhere is the tab stand comes in the box made of recycled paper. A decent stuff which can be used until you get a flip cover available in the market

Looks: The size is less than half of an A4 size paper and weight is perfect. A beautiful piece (mine is ebony black). It has rubber feel on the edges that makes the grip firmer

Display: Excellent!!! Super crisp, it comes with a default brightness around 50% which is pretty high which I reduced to ~30% which is enough for night viewing.
Great customization (part of Kitkat). There are some finger marks visible on the screen. Brightness control does not have auto mode (I couldn’t find) which means you need to keep adjusting it manually for your needs.Visibility in sun is good but screen reflects too much, may need a matt finish screen guard

Camera: Great!!! No pixilation with 100% zoom. One of the best cameras in tabs. Secondary camera is not that great but good for video call if there is enough light in the room.

Sound: Awesome!!! Good speakers, Lenovo claim the sound has dolby effect, but I did not feel anything great about it. Radio too is good, with my blackberry in-earphones nice thump and treble. I tested the Sennheiser headset (bundled), they are good but nothing to boast about.

Speed/Performance: No lags whatsoever. Tab gets heated up, extremely while playing game. Call clarity is good. But with my mobile hotspot I used internet which is quite fast and browser (chrome) was quite responsive.

Battery: Takes ages to charge, Max 2 hours if you play heavy games like RR3, Asphalt. Idle about 2 days. With mediocre usage with mix of 3G and voice you get a day.

Apps: come with great preloaded apps like shareit, cloneit, textr etc. Most of the required apps are available but many of them are not optimized for tabs.

Connectivity: Have 2G/3G (works well), wifi (good speed, I could download 7mb in a minute), I could not experience 4G yet, inspite of having a 4G subscription. Bluetooth is fast and does support OTG (no lag in playing audio video, but experienced the storage getting ejected automatically couple of times which playing songs)

Case and Screenguard: Got nice sleek case from bay for Rs.599/- and screen guard of a larger size cut and fixed from a local shop for Rs.200/-

Reliability: Don’t know, my fully charged tab suddenly stopped working one night and started working after 3days after raising a request for return.

Verdict: Tab is good for person who don’t play games on tab. ?, but battery in comparison is below par

I was looking to buy a tablet for quiet sometime. I was kind of falling for the iPad Air or Mini and then the Nexus 9. The Nexus is feature rich I admit, but I felt its too pricey. And the iPads, I know its the well engineered , optimized and polished piece of cake, but you need to be all Apple to get the full benefit of it. And then on one good day I came across this tablet , the Lenovo tab S8 which has almost every features I needed as tablet user. Right away I ended up looking for user reviews in Flipkart , Amazon etc as everybody does. But there where none because the device was a new launch. And finally on the basis of few hands on video reviews on YouTube I decided to buy one. A spontaneous decision.

The physical look of this device is excellent , with 299 gms it feels light in hands. The rubberized feel of the back panel feels good with nice grip to hold. The first thing which strikes when you look at the tab for the first time would be the IPS display which is really bright and vivid. Albeit when viewed in an angle with the screen switched off will reveal some kind of matrix / patterns on the screen. Can live with it , as it is not a distraction when the screen is on.

When talking about the screen I should mention this small glitch , that when you hold the tab close to your ear and keenly listen you could hear a small whistling kind of sound from the upper speaker, and when the screen switched off its gone. I don’t know if its the problem with this piece alone. But still its not much of a problem, because in normal usage you don’t hear anything ..the sound is that feeble. May be a software update will solve this glitch. Then one thing I felt about the power and volume rocker switches is that they seems a bit loosely mounted , which in turn reduces the tactile feedback. These are my views on the hardware. In short I should say that it has got a very good built quality.

The device has got a good viewing angle which makes the tab a good reader. The smart stay / lock feature would have been a good addition. Or is it there ? , hidden somewhere?

Found some jerky animation when switching between the landscape and portrait modes, also the text/ contacts scrolling animations too for that matters.

The front firing speakers of the device is good. The volume levels are not too high but I think it is adequate for watching movies or music videos. The Dolby surround feature is the one which I liked the most. In fact I did notice that when I installed the Poweramp music player app the Dolby feature was not switching on. So I had to uninstall my favorite music player app 🙁 Anyway I’ll experiment on this again.

On the first full charge the device ran for 28 hours. That was mixed use with hd video playback, gaming with Skyforce, music, WiFi usage, Youtube viewing, still image shooting and browsing. Please note that I have not started using Sim card on this device which may reduce the battery life in the long run.

The main 8mp camera of this device is an okay okay for tab. The autofocus is a bit slow. Its low light performance is not so great. But in outdoor shooting it is awesome. It has got HDR mode also which I liked , again HDR shooting is also slow.

Other bit I liked is the keyboard with word suggest and a swipe feature. It works like a charm. The spell check works hand in hand with the other features. In landscape mode the keyboard is so convenient to use , just like a computer keyboard. When you select a sentence and want to cut, copy or paste , the options are kind of hidden away in the upper right side of the screen. But will get used to it. Please note that I typed this whole review with the device’ s keyboard. Lol

There are several useful pre-installed apps like Skype, Truecaller, Route 66, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter along with Lenovo’s Synchit , Shareit and Cloneit.

Multitasking in this device is seamless.

The GPS reception is good, I was able to get good reception even inside my office.

YouTube streaming was really fast over WiFi.

The notification and quick controls on the upper screen left and right respectively is a useful feature.

For now I am briefing this review , I know there is a lot more to cover as a review , but as I told I am in the early days of using it. I’ll keep on adding to this as and when I am using the new features and trying a few more graphic rich games . Overall I am really happy with this buy.

This tablet is working good. As mentioned by other reviewers its a best buy with best features at this price. Only problem is, it is getting heated up while playing games and battery doesn’t seem to be upto the mark. (half star reduced)

A tablet without screen guard and case makes it uncomfortable to handle with ease. (half star reduced)

Can anyone share the details of the screen guard and keyboard case compatible for this tablet.?

JUST AFTER 1 MONTH OF USAGE. I HAPPENED TO ACCIDENTALLY DAMAGE THE SCREEN. NOW THE SCREEN IS HAVING A BIG CRACK ALL OVER IT AND HALF OF THE TOUCH IS NOT WORKING. SO CALLED UP LENOVO SERVICE AND THEY TOLD ME THE PRICE FOR IT’S NEW SCREEN. Rs.18000/-. WHERE AS I BROUGHT THE TABLET FOR Rs. 17000/-.

AFTER MUCH ARGUMENT I WAS OFFERED A PRICE OF Rs.12000/-

BUT STILL I THINK THIS IS VERY COSTLY.

HOW CAN A TABLET SCREEN COST 70% OF ITS PRICE!!!.

NOW THERE IS NO REPLY FROM EITHER FLIPKART OR HI TECH ( LENEVO PRIORITY SERVICE CENTRE) OR THE LENOVO ITSELF.

NOW I FEEL IT’S BETTER TO BUY CHINESE PRODUCTS INSTEAD OF GOING FOR BRANDED ONES IF U HAVE TO JUST USE AND THROW THEM!!… LENOVO SHOULD SHUT DOWN ITS SERVICE DEPT IF THEY ARE GOING TO LOOT THEIR CUSTOMERS.

    THIS IS A TOTAL LOSS!!!

Its a very good Tab from Lenovo. Great features like 2 GB RAM, 1.92 GHz processor, 8 MP rear Camera, HD video recroding. I am using this tab from last 2 weeks and so far no issues at all. Got Saco keyboard for my tab which is also fitting perfectly all right. I would suggest S8 tab instead of Lenovo Yoga series. With 8 Inch screen you will much comfortable and its easily holdable also. Much better features in this price range, while Yoga series will cost you more and almost same feature, only design part is better there. So Just go for Lenovo S8….

  7. Rated 1 out of 5

Do not buy this tablet at all!!!
Flipkart replaced the device still both devices had SEVERE HEATING issues. Device gets heated up by just playing a simple game such as Boom Beach etc to an extent u cant hold it from that end (near Motherboard area).

Though specs seems similar to Yoga 2 this device severely underperformed.
Big thumbs up for Flipkart though for great delivery and TAT on pickups and refund too (gt amount back in less than 1 day in Wallet)

    Pros:
    Fantastic IPS display
    High power processor
Highly customized UI (depends on whether you prefer ‘Apple’ look or you are more of a native Android type of person :P)
    Free Headset 😀 😀 😀
Backpanel matte finish, attracts less fingerprints

    Cons:
It heats up a little while playing games
Too much screen glare (I guess you have to accept it for an IPS display)

    Verdict:
A superb budget tablet, sometimes makes you feel like an iPad owner. 😛

  9. Rated 3 out of 5

Since I have seen so many review for this product and now I have used this Tab for 2 days, I thought to give readers a comprehensive details

    Pros:
Screen is very good. Color reproduction is excellent pixel density though is not eye popping but is one of the good available for this budget.
2 GB RAM does its work very well and tab works smoothly.
Plays videos very well and you can watch movies. It plays nos of formats.
Rear camera is good. Audio is very good and you can switch on and off Dolby system. Thought the front speaker volume is not that vibrant but ok. 3G data access is very good. Calling is OK no video calls 🙁
OTG is available. Earphone volumes are very good.
Comes with readily installed software FB, Twitter, true caller, UC Browser HD??
Some people may smell for this Chinese browser when chrome comes by default.
You can use other bluetooth head sets.

    Cons:
Battery capacity sucks. I got 1 day 4 hrs for below the average use. Think about after 5-6 month how much it may give?? Almost 80% is taken by screen. 8″ screen needs at least 6000 mAh capacity. Unlike Huawei which uses 7″ and special IPS which consumes less power. Lenovo Yoga 2 Tab 8″ comes with 6400 mAh. If you have below average to average then it is good option otherwise you would be disappointed.
It heats up if you parallel open number of applications and during gaming.
    Front camera is poor.
    No video calling facility.
Rear camera lacks details. Sometimes red eye and glare pics.
Some movie formats are not played of sound missing.
No corning Gorilla glass. You must put screen guard which is not available right now.
Accessories like cover, case are not available. Pen drives connected sometimes losses connection.
Radio reception is poor. Only catches few channels whose broadcasting is very good. I can able to hear only 3 out of 6 available. Radio needs earphone plugging.
    Security HD slows down performance.
Calender does not synchronized with contacts so no events, B’day alerts 🙁

Overall good product for average use and for this budget and if you get a Sennheiser Headphone as a promo gift on launch 🙂

  10. Rated 4 out of 5

Its been 2-3 days of use. Sleek,Elegant, All the features are good. except

    1. A whistling sound from the upper speaker, it goes away when the screen is locked. But not much of a bother.
    2. Battery is not sufficient: A fully charged Tab goes half in 30-40mins. Need to recharge if you work for long time. Other tabs has 6000 MAH. S8 should also have had close to 6000 or more.
    3. No screen guard and flip cover.
