48 reviews for LG Optimus L9 P760
Note : **Some of the reviews are picked from flipkart, Amazon and other e-stores.

  1. Rated 5 out of 5

    Akash Nil Chatterjee

First off all, hats off to flipkart, got delivery within 3 days, that too when I ordered on Sunday. Now we take a look at the specs of this beast:

    1. TI OMAP 4430 SOC(Dual Cortex A9+SGX540), for those who don’t know this is the same SOC(chip) present in Galaxy Tab 7″ and 10″ series, Galaxy Nexus, Droid RAZR and a bunch of other high-end devices from 2012-2013, so, right there on the performance metric.

    2. 4.7″ IPS panel, amazing viewing angle and 30% brightness is enough except for sunlight, for which a mere 50% does the job. Excellent viewing angles and qHD display gives 240PPI, meaning, crisp clear image with no aliasing.

    3. 1GB RAM is enough for everything, and this really has 1GB RAM, not 768MB, free RAM is 300-400MB at any time, ample.

    4. 2150mah batt, which is the largest among all phones except Note series, excellent battery life, normal use will get you 1.5-2 days easy.

    5. LG Optimus UI 3.0 is extremely fluid, as good as Samsung’s UI and certainly better than HTC’s, phone is snappy, no lags whatsoever, and browsing is fluid and fast, excellent OS customization by LG.

    6. Comes with bundles of premium software like QTranslator, Polaris Office etc.

    7. And the others like NFC, WiFiDirect, GPS, Compass, FM+RDS etc are also present, LG does not skimp on features.

    8. Extremely lightweight and thin phone, a beauty to hold and handle.

    Now, the Cons:

    1. The camera while good in daylight is not at all upto the mark in low light/night, so if you buy phones for the camera only, give this a wide berth. Same goes for 1080P recording, downsampling helps, but not that much. But if you take casual snapshots and are not a image quality freak then its perfect, camera UI is snappy, takes panorama, and has some customization settings.

    2. 4GB internal memory, do you buy a 20k smartphone just to play super HD games and install about 5-6 such games at the same time? If yes, then this is not for you either. But if you play one or two super HD game and some casual games like Temple Run 2, Angry Birds, Ninjump, Fruitninja, you can do it easy. Rooting can circumvent this issue, but since that goes against warranty policy I will not elaborate it here.

    3. No Jelly Bean at launch, but a jelly bean has been confirmed for our model: http://bit.ly/VEh6iG

    4. Memory card is not hot swappable, but that’s not that big of a con anyway as this has plethora of connectivity options like Bluetooth, wifi.

Now how does this make Optimus L9 the best solution under 22k? Well lets see the competition, there’s galaxy s advance with smaller screen and lower resolution, 768MB RAM, and 1500mah battery, pfft, now grand, it has a 190ppi screen, meaning you could count pixels, a videocore gpu that no other company uses with performance all over the floor for 4k higher price. And finally Xperia P which is as good or better than L9 but has a 1300mah battery, meaning you should carry the charger 24×7 with you.

Now Optimus L9 has every base covered, unlike other companies it does not cut cost by reducing hardware specs like ram, battery, screen size, but only the camera and I for one do not buy a smartphone for its camera only, I use a FZ150 for that task, so this phone is perfect for me, plays all games smoothly, browsing is as fluid as it can be, interface is as smooth as Jelly Bean, and finally, the screen is too gorgeous, also it has nice design as well, lightweight, and frankly looks better than Samsung sets easily, battery life is better than every android set I had ever used in my life, and it charges extremely fast, does not heat up when charging or gaming(a little heating for extreme quality games), good signal reception and very low SAR for all the health conscious people out there.

    So what is my verdict?
If you have a budget of 23k or lower(i.e don’t want to shell out 25k for Xperia SL/Optimus 4XHD) then buy the LG Optimus L9 eyes closed, its “Living Large” baby, satisfaction guaranteed.

This is a wonderful phone as many reviewers have already mentioned.

This is not a review of the device, rather information for those expecting to move the apps to SDcard. This phone uses Media Transfer Protocol (MTP). By design, MTP devices are not treated as a traditional removable drive (as mentioned in MTP Wikipedia post).

In addition, there is no separate application partition on SDcard when we are using MTP. Thus allowing usage of the entire internal SDcard for installing as many apps as you need. So, you are indirectly benefiting from the MTP and it is not a negative of this phone or any other phone.

(you can modify from MTP to SDcard option by rooting the device, but, you loose the warranty).

A medium budget Smartphone with all features under Rs.16,000/- with free leather flip case.
I have purchased the Black colour LG Optimus L9 phone from local retailer shop in kochi on 16 Jun 2013 after researching among Samsung, Nokia, Sony, Micromax and Karbon Mobiles. I frankly speak the phone is worth to buy it. I was confused between Sony XperiaP, Sony Xperia L, Samsung Galaxy Grand Win, Micromax CanvasHD,Nokia Lumia 720 and LG Optimus L9.I will give the disadvantages among the phones:-
Sony Xperia P- Battery 1305mah.So be ready to carry reactangular shape 3pin charger with you all time, Display of 4inch is quite small to see properly all the icons on the phone.
Sony Xperia L- Display resolution is low 480*800.So Display is not so magnificent.720p video play but no full HD1080p playback, NO Bravia engine.
Samsung Galaxy Grand Win- Display resolution is same as sony xperiaL.
Nokia Lumia 720- 768mb RAM is less for featured Smartphones for running various application smoothly.
Micromax Canvas HD- Bulky phone with 5inch screen due to which handling of phone with one hand becomes difficult, Camera not upto the mark, display is not good.
LG Optimus L9- 4gb internal memory in which 2.33gb is user available.

    Advantages of LG Optimus L9:-
1.Display LCD IPS qHD has resolution of 560*960 due to which Screen look far Brighter and crystal clear.
    2. Optimus 3.0 UI is best interface on LG phones.
    3. 4.7 inch screen is not too big due lesser width of phones due to which operating with one hand is accessible.
    4. looks of phone is astonishing only 9.1mm slim mobile having weight of 120gm. So it is easier to carry in the jeans pant pocket.
    5. 1gb RAM in which always 350-400RAM is always available for faster performance.
    6. Cortex A9 is latest processor for playing high speed games like Temple Run2,Subway Surfers etc.
    7. 4gb internal memory in which 2.33 user available and exteral memory expandable to 32gb.
    8. 5megapixel with LED flash rear camera and 0.3 mp front camera & rear camera has full HD1080p recording,Download torchlight apps from android playstore by which your phone will work as torch also through led flash given on rear camera.
    9. It has FULL HD Playback of videos without any lag.
    10. It has good space on screen due to which reading, browsing is easier.
    11. It has pre-loaded Q- Memo apps in phone so that you can write or rub anything with your finger & save the file for further reference.
    12. These many features you will get in Rs.20,000 and above mobiles, so save from paying extra 4,000 to 6,000 bucks.
So, These many advantages are in LG Optimus L9 phones which makes him favourite than popular Samsung galaxy Grand due to its good marketing of the product. Please compare both mobiles you will find what i was saying is correct.
So, if you like it please tick the column, Thanks…….

This is an awesome VFM Package with respect to Android. Don’t know about LG After Sales but under 20k Motorola Atrix 2 was the best until they left Asia Market but this is hands down the best phone to get. Major Features over Competition:

    1) Dual Core & 1 GB RAM for Smooth Multi Tasking and Processing
    2) Front Camera for Video Calls
    3) 4.7″ Display is simply Awesome
    4) Enough Battery to last one heavy day easily
    5) 5 mpx Camera is so so but HD Recording is Super
    6) Expandable Storage
    7) Fast 3G Modem 21 MBps Downlink and 5.76 Uplink
    8) Above Average GPU for the Price
    9) FM included a bonus when you need to listen to it for any reason
    10) All essential things covered up

Internal Memory is 4 GB but isn’t that nip ticking? To someone who posted he can’t understand this low memory I need to know what about Major Pros? S Advance is better Oh My god we have another narrow minded Fan who is posting irrelevant stuff! Nothing is perfect but cribbing over what’s not has become a habit of people that needs to be eradicated for good. It’s a request to look with a broader view and stop lamenting over something not so much of a deal breaker!

Rest only Con as of now is whether LG will grace it with Jelly Bean or not! S advance has that but has too many cons right now over this!

If we consider only the hardware then this is the best phone in it’s price range.

Here are the things that I miss very much and which should be there in this phone.

-> You cannot move applications to SD Card (The phone has no support for that), so there is no advantage of having a big capacity memory card (except for storing your music, videos and pictures).

-> Too many softwares pre installed (taking up majority of the internal memory), which in my opinion will not be used much.

-> out of 4 GB of internal storage only around 2.5 GB is user available.

Overall this is a good phone in this price range.

I bought this phone a week ago…i cannot think of any cons of this phone..only pros..this phone costs much less than galaxy grand and is much much better than galaxy grand..display is sharp.. qhd display with 540×960 resolution..battery backup is very good..unlike some people who say its battery is not good i would say its got a very strong battery backup…i myself was confused between galaxy grand and optimus l9..but i m not at all regreting my decision after buying this phone..its as smooth as butter unlike galaxy grand which is a lot crappy even at 1.2 ghz..lg has not been able to grow their market in mobile sector but the people who actually use lg phones know better..best under 20k..overall 5 star

  8. Rated 4 out of 5

I brought this phone after much of deliberation and going through various reviews.
I must say initially i was skeptical about LG but going through specs i decided to go for it and i must say it is worth all the money… display is beautiful…i am yet to encounter significant lag in applications..i say significant because in android even high end phones show lag sometime…
signal quality is good…this is one aspect you should always check before buying phone which many users don’t ….that is the reason never go for cheap high spec phones… phone should be able to make and receive call… isn’t it..
battery life is good easily get through the day and more…
if u r into gaming ..this is strict no as have only 4 GB internal memory of which abut 2.5 is available which is insufficient to download high end games.
    camera is ok..
overall a good phone at this price range…..
Still waiting for jellybean update…which has already been released in Europe… hope will get it soon in india…
Lg is also giving leather cover free with phone which is must as u’ll not find it anywhere else.

I’ll say tech wise Lg is no slouch compared to Samsung…look at Nexus 4 or Optimus G both are great phones…
Samsung just add there Advt. budget to phone pricing…
I’ll give 4 star as no jelly bean and 4GB internal memory and no ambient light sensor

  9. Rated 5 out of 5

It still baffles me, despite making better quality products, why LG odes not market its products like Samsung does. Availability of the phones, let alone accessories, becomes a major issue at times when you decide to buy one. Even the salesmen at any retail stores try to push Samsung phones despite knowing there are better ones available in similar range.

Anyways, after using this phone for a week, below is my impression:

    * GORGEOUS … this phone really is quite a looker and turning of heads are guaranteed when pulled out of pocket

    * Screen despite being HUGE, miraculously slips into any of your pockets easily … as easily as my Galaxy S, my previous phone. This is nothing short of a design excellence

    * The screen quality is AWESOME .. bright and vibrant with excellent rendering (coming from an amoled display, I didn’t feel much of a difference; trust me its that good).. My colleagues Grand’s screen looks really pathetic beside it and anyone who has seen them side by side admits it.

    * Super smooth and super intuitive UI .. LG has done a good job on their skin this time (still on ICS) .. ZERO LAG despite installing resource heavy apps .. gaming and multimedia is splendid

    * Battery 1.5 days despite heavy use

    * Lastly, please stop comparing it with Grand. I love Samsung phones and was a happy user for 2 years. But this is way better than grand on any count, except camera and internal storage.

    * Camera below average
    * Internal storage low .. But with JB update (released) that is solved
    * Back cover though have stunning looks with metallic LG logo engraved on it, feels flimsy.
    * As stated earlier, availability of accessories

So if you are not planning to launch a rocket with your phone or planning to take up a National Geographic photography assignment using your phones camera, go for L9 blindfolded.

Bottomline: After trying to create a mark in the android phones market with some hits and misses, LG has got it right with the L series and has hit one out of the park with Nexus4, Optimus G and G Pro. LG has regained their consumers trust again, but need to back it up with proper marketing and timely updates.

    Hope this helps.

For this price range… this is the best buy. Almost everything is excellent about this phone. The only con that I’ve observed is its weaker speaker – wish LG had paid more attention to it.

    – Display is the USP
    – Performance is the key
    – LG custom UI is cool too
    – Slim form factor is fantastic
