I have purchased from samsung estore (not from flipkart) Samsung Galaxy SIII (paid Rs 26789/- via offer) and I am facing performance issues (lagging, ram over shoots and shutdowns, battery overheating, preclosure of apps)

Later I have contacted the samsung customer care and asked a proper explaination, because how come performance issues would be there for a new mobile bought from samsung estore. They asked me to visit the customer care and they inspected my mobile and told there would be problem with the mother board

The same performance issues for my colleage who purchased Samsung SIII from samsung estore

Now I am asking Samsung for the replacement of my handset but samsung says only a repair(even flipkart gives 30 days replacement) would be possible

Later from the internet I came to now that there are some performance issues with mother boards for a particular lot of mobiles and Samsung is trying to sell these mobiles via offers ……… Beware of Samsung cheating the Indian Customers

Make a right decision before buying/investing over these cheap phones

Planning to move this issue to Indian Consumer Court

Its been a week I bought this phone, and trust me guys, this is a beast!!!
The first thing you will notice about this phone is, well, its size. Its huge to say the least, and phones shouldn’t really get any bigger than this. Personally I feel the size is big for a phone, and is simply risky for one handed use. On the other hand, the larger screen estate does help when browsing the internet, or watching a video, etc.
Many people have been complaining about the build quality of this phone, saying its cheap plastic n all. While it doesn’t look as premium as other flagships, but its not that bad either. You will be fooled if you judge the phone’s appearance by the pictures; in hand, it really looks and feels much better and sturdy. Also, its polycarbonate, the same material used on the HTC One X, so you can comfortably forget about the bad comments on quality of materials.
The display is one of the the best displays right now in the market, period. Super AMOLEDs are known for their rich colors and deep blacks, and trust me, you have to see it to believe it if you haven’t already. The blacks are impenetrable, and colors pop out to the eyes. You can tweak display settings if you like more natural looking colors. Finally, those who are worried about the pentile nature of the display, don’t be. At pixel density of 306 ppi, you won’t even notice the graininess in day to day use that was prevalent on galaxy S, unless you see from very close range.
The ICS 4.0.4 UI is skinned by Samsung Touchwiz Nature UX. This is nothing like what touchwiz used to be couple of years back, and really brings a fresh feel to user experience, not very visually appealing as HTC Sense, but not bad either. The software runs on Exynos quad core processor, that coupled with a MALI 400 GPU and 1 GB of RAM, this phone literally eats most other phones for breakfast. I haven’t seen any android device this smooth, the UI literally flies with your touch, and apps launch in a flash; it just refuses to give up, its insanely fast! All of this is powered by a 2100 mAh battery, which is a removable one too. It easily lasts a day and a half with moderate to heavy usage, and the longevity is certain to increase after a couple of charge/discharge cycles.
Storage option is plenty, as this phone comes with 16 GB onboard. If you crave for more, it supports microSD card slots of upto 64 GB capacity, so storage shouldn’t be a problem for most.
The default video player, as usual, has very rich codec support. I have experienced some issues with .mkv format, and really hope this to be fixed soon with an update. The other popular formats, divx/xvid,mp4, flv, all played without any issues. 1080p videos played smoothly without any hiccups. This phone really is one capable video player OOTB.
Samsung has incorporated the touchwiz music player, with new, polished look. The player supports all popular formats, and the phone really excels in the audio department, with a top notch audio output. Buy a pair of good headphones and you are good to go.
Camera has the same pixel count as its predecessor, the S2 (8 MP), but Samsung have improved on the sensors for better pics, which is a smart move. For all who are talking about the absence of a 12 MP unit, unless you are planning to print billboard size photos, its really not necessary. Image quality depends on the sensors. The zero shutter lag feature works as expected. The camera has a couple of useful shot modes (burst shot, panorama, etc), which are handy, but I found that not all of them uses the flash, like the burst shot mode, so forget it if you are planning to make a burst shot in low light conditions. The front camera is a 1.9 MP module, and is pretty decent as well.
The camera is capable of recording 1080p videos is mp4 format, and you can actually capture 8 MP stills while recording the video simultaneously, which is a nice feature. I won’t comment much on this since I haven’t shot videos yet, but the online reviews have been positive about the video recorder. The front module is capable of shooting videos in 720p.
A couple of negatives that I have come across:-
    1) Some of the features I feel are more of marketing gimmicks, like The Smart stay feature only works in a well-lit environment, and that too, the operation is not guaranteed (I personally was annoyed about this feature, and Samsung itself warns about the same).
    2) Surprisingly, Samsung has removed/disabled the ICS feature of drag-n-drop one app shortcut on another to create a folder, so you have to go the old-fashioned Gingerbread way of creation of folders.
    3) You cannot move installed applications to memory card.
If you consider the overall experience, there are not many phones in market right now which can dare to stand toe-to-toe with this beast. Its not perfect, but its far from being bad either. If you have the pocket and do not want to go for anything else but the best, you cannot go wrong with this phone. Highly recommended!!!

    Helo Al,
To begin wid,Flipkart has become a reputed & trustworthy shoping website for indian customers wid its quality, afordable price & amazing Delivery(I got my phone in just 32hrs after i placed the order).Thumbs up for flipkart.com.Iam loving it 😉
Let me straight forward start wid my review of dis cell wich iam using since 1.5 months.

    Pros:
    > A briliant 4.8 inch Super HD Amoled screen.Watching HD movies wid 7.1 surround sound is awsome.

    > The Camera is a decent 8MP camera wid auto focus wich clicks gr8 snaps. The features like best shot,Burst mode come into handy at times.

    > The Quad core processor is mor than enough for the current ICS OS & to handle the apps,HD Videos & games available in Google play.U can truely see the power of its CPU by going to the Video Player & selecting the Thumbnail view. All my 150 videos vl b playing in small thumbnail view simultaneously.

    > 2180 mah batery is suficient to handle dis quad core bast wid decent backup of 1.5 days.I hv played 3 movies on a single charge.

    > NFC+WiFiDirect=Sbeam is much much faster than normal NFC.

    > I travel a lot & most of the time i completely rely on GPS.The GPS+GLONASS+Offline Gmaps are like a blessing for me.Widin 1-2 seconds the cell vl lock the satelite.Awesome!!

    > Svoice is a pure time pass when u r alone & want to hv some fun.

    > Pop-up play feature is helpful wen u r doing multitasking.

    > Most of the people use to complain about its looks & design but dis is not true.Dis is is a great eye catcher. Many times at hotels & in my office, whenever i take dis White bauty out of my pocket, many people came to me & asked me about it & dis is the moment wen u feel dat the money u spent on buying dis is worth.

    Cons:
    > The Svoice, most of the times can’t understand the Indian english. It vl either giv wrong results or else it vl say “I can’t get dat”.Sometimes it feels anoying. But the jelly bean update is going to release soon wich has Google Now wich is fast, accurate & gives full competition to Siri.

    > The Smart stay feature is one of the companies main feature but it seems to b useless. To make it work properly,u need to b in a Very well lit environment wer ur face can b easily detected by the front camera.

    > The Quad core chipset wid 1GB RAM sometimes seems to b not enough as when u open 3 applications at a time the UI seems to b lagging, the games sometimes automaticaly get closed or crashing problem & very often the Phone vl automatically boot up.

    > The enormous screen & size are bit uncomfortable to handle in one hand & due to its thin & super slim smooth profile the chances r more dat it can fall from ur hands.

    > The Camera is not good in Low light.

    > Despite having Wolfson DAC audio chip in GS3,the sound is very low if u keep it on bed or in pockets.

    > The Gorila Glass 2 on GS3 is not at all reliable. So plz go for a screen guard ASAP.

    > U can’t send big SMS(s).Dis is a common problem in Android OS

    PROBLEMS:
I kept dis column separate as dis is the area of concern & is a worldwide GS3 Problem & Samsng has acknowledged these problems & working on the fixes.

    > Message icon notification problem-
Step1: Send a new SMS to ur own number & return immediately to Home screen.
Step2: The moment u get the msg,u vl see a message notification “1” on the messaging icon shortcut on the homescreen.
Step3: Click on the message shortcut, read the msg & return to Homescreen.
Step4: U saw the problem?? Even if u read dat message, the message shortcut vl still b showing the 1 new msg notification.
Step5: Me & lot of other customers have complained dis to Samsng & they acknowledged dis problem & told they vl fix it in next updates.
Note: If u restart ur mobile OR Delete the shortcut & replace it back again OR clear the free Ram from task manager, den dis issue is fixed. BUT the next time when u get a new msg again, dis problem again comes. 😀

    > More RAM Consumption- GS3 has 1GB ram,out of wich nearly 300 MB is used by OS & user is left wid 738 MB for his needs.Out of dis 738 MB,the RAM Consumption vl b around 630-670MB(Normal usage wid no apps installed). So for running HD games & doing multitasking u vl b left wid 120-130MB free ram.

    > Frequent hanging problems while opening/closing apps,making phone calls,messaging & automatic restarting:
Dis is a major problem. The phone used to hang many times & lead me to reboot it.In addition to dat sometimes it vl reboot automatically in my pocket.Dis auto rebooting problem is there in all Galaxy Series.

    > 4th Problem: Smart stay is a headache. It vl shut the screen off in every 6-10 secs.

Dis is my experience wid my GS3.Despite all Problems,i would stil recomend people to buy dis as all the Cons & Problems r acknowledged by Samsng & dey promised to fix dis in next future updates. Moreover Jelly bean is coming in few months,So i think all the problems vl b fixed.

Enjoy wid ur Galaxy in hands.

    1. Price

Samsung achieved top position in mobile world due to best hardware at aggressive pricing but HTC ONE-X is quad core too clocked at 1.5 GHz and available at lesser price.

    2. Resolution

Resolution of 720 x 1280 Pixels is very promising and produces a realistic display quality with high contrast and sharp looking images.

    3. Screen

According to a consumer survey 4 inch screens are most appropriate for single hand use whereas screens like 5.3 of Note and 4.8 of S3 have reduced the mobility comfort in mobiles. People end up using both hands to operate such large screens. Not to mention the increased risk of screen cracking due to inevitable rough usage. Otherwise AMOLED screen quality is phenomenal.

    4. Battery

Battery (2100 mAH) is quite impressive and works beyond expectations on heavy duty of such large screen and quad core processor.

    5. Build Quality

People might like rounded corners and plastic finish but personally I feel the cheap looking plastic design is toy like and doesn’t gives a premium look. Its a matter of individual taste.

    6. Camera

Camera is 8mp same as that of Galaxy S2 with improved interface and color sharpness. courtesy- Android v4 ICS. Front camera is also provided.

    7. Graphics

Graphics have not been improved, same old Mali-400MP as that of Galaxy S2. But Quad core makes its own contributions.

    8. Other Features

However Samsung has always amazed its customers by setting new benchmarks in mobile world. Android Ice-cream sandwich is icing on the cake. S view and S stay though new features but are little unreal in the fast world where we cant wait and press for long, speak to mike, wait for system response and then affirm. Phew ! A bit lengthy process, I would rather touch the app icon.

    9. Final words and logical predictions.

S3 is so far best in hardware but all its expensive features are not much usable in market like India for example their is hardly any app that can use all the four quads of its processor. But yes this is a future proof handset at overpriced tag. Prices are bound to fall in coming months because:
    1. Festival season is coming
    2. Indian Rupee is weakest at the moment
    3. Hype of Galaxy s3 has inflated its initial price

Its passionate to buy this phone but not wise.

Problems with Smartphone today is that we buy it, but often most of us do not use it to fullest than the device is capable of.

Do not buy this device, if:
    1. You are not going to use the features for which it is hyped. Like, i commonly do not use S Beam, Wifi Direct, Cast Share.. Why? Due to lack of resources or need. These are just show – off things.. But , if your closed one has got S3 too, then you may use above features..

    2. You do not want to play games, record memos, make reminders , record high end videos, set schedules.

    3. Just want to play music, record videos and images.. There are cheaper smartphones available that can do these jobs too.

    Buy this device if:

    1. You are Android app developer and taking this thing seriously.

    2. You are traveller.

    3. If you want to use features regularly described in the first paragraph.

    PRAFUL DESAI

I have been using Samsung Galaxy S3 from one month. It had ICS when I bought it. These reviews are after the JB update. I read reviews across many websites, seeing those negative reviews I was confused whether to for this smartie or not. And I made my mind finally. And I am loving my SGS3….

    1. Resolution

Resolution of 720 x 1280 Pixels is just awesome. I bet you love watching videos on this SUPER AMOLED HD screen.

    2. Screen
In my views, for smart phones 4 inch screen (which most of the smart phones have) looks bit small especially for those people who love to play games and watch videos & 5.6 inch (Note 2) looks very big (cant even keep it in my jeans pocket)
So 4.8 inch screen which SGS3 has is the perfect one.

    3. Battery

Well this is the area where most Indian mobile users will be looking seriously ?
Guys, If you were using a basic handset all the time and suddenly you go for SGS3 then you will get disappointed for sure. You used to get 2 – 3 days of battery life in your basic mobile and now even if SGS3 is giving you 18 hrs of battery life, you will start shouting battery drains… sucks… blah blah blah

Coming to the battery life of SGS3…
It depends on how much you use your mobile. It’s actually that big HD screen that consumes more battery 45% approximately. Below are the approximate statistics after the JB update.

    Case 1) Heavy Usage
    Phone Calls: 1hr
    Gaming: 1hr
    Video Playback: 2hr
    Music & FM: 2hrs
    Other Activities: 1hr

    Battery Life: 9 – 12 hrs with screen on for 3 – 4 hrs.

    Case 2) Moderate Usage
    Phone Calls: 30 – 45mins
    Gaming: 1hr
    Video Playback: 30 mins
    Music & FM: 3-4 hrs
    Other Activities: 30 mins

    Battery Life: 12 -14hrs with screen on for 2 – 3 hrs.

Case 3) Only Calls and Texts and Music
    Phone Calls: 2hrs
    Gaming: No
    Video Playback: No
    Music & FM: 4 hrs
    Other Activities: 1hr

    Battery Life: 17 – 20hrs with screen on for 2 – 3 hrs.

On stand by mode you will get about 36hrs.
I have observed when I go to bed at 11PM my battery was at 41% when I woke up at 7AM it was still at 36%.

All the above stats are with JellyBean in my SGS3. While I was using ICS battery performance was poorer than JB. It has actually improved with JB update by 25 – 30%.

    4. Build Quality

Personally I did not like the plastic body. The back panel is very delicate when you take it out of the mobile. But as long its on mobile you don’t feel that delicateness.
But I don’t care about the build when compared with the other features which SGS3 has got ?

    5. Price
34000 – 35000 is not a problem at all. All other phones like Xperia Ion, HTC OneX, LG Optimus are in the same range.

    6. Camera

It has 8MP front camera which is same as SGS2 but has lot more and better features. In one line “You will not be disappointed with the camera”. The picture quality and resolution is just super.
1.9MP front camera looks pretty too.

    7. Graphics

Graphics is same as that of SGS2. But the QudCore makes it so easy and smooth in SGS3.

I tried playing Temple Run game on SGS2 and SGS3. Tell you what! Graphics in SGS3 does make lot of difference.
Playing Cricket World Cup and Real Football on SGS3 is just awesome ?

    8. Other Features

SGS3 has got tons of smart features.
    1) The S Voice is pretty cool app. Unlike Siri in iPhone, S Voice recognizes Indian accent very easily. You can Set Alarm, Create task / appointment, you can call a person (Just say CALL PRAFUL), you can text a contact (TEXT PRAFUL WHERE ARE YOU?)…. So many other features.
    2) Direct Call
    3) Smart Stay (screen backlight wont go off as long as you are looking into screen)
    4) Voice Control for Apps like Camera, Music Player and Radio. With this you can actually take snaps with your voice. If you say CAPTURE it will take the pic. You can control volume, play next, previous, pause/play with voice commands.

Cant explain all the features here. I may have to write a book on that!

    9. Final Words:

Every mobile has got its Pros and Cons. It doesn’t mean I/we should not be buying any smart phone. You have to compromise for those minor cons.

Well, I am very much in love with my SGS3. I bet you will too fall in love with it when you buy it. JUST GO FOR IT !!!

This product by Samsung is so close to getting a 5*

    The Awesomeness but for:
1>Wi Fi: The reception is poor. When I Laptop shows having full Wifi range, the phone shows to be out of range.
2>Call Log and Message: Has a bug where in it always shows that there is a missed call or an unread message. And its really irritating to see message logs being listed in the call logs. Every time you have to select the option view call logs only.
3>Speed: Initially there was not even a nano second lag when you goto the home screen or the apps. Now I do see that there is a lag.
4>Samsung Cover(It doesnt come with the phone): The cover is not at all worth paying 1.5K. Initially I did feel that its good, but now it has changed. Its unconfortable to click photos with the cover. The lining of the cover came out within a month.
5>Home button: Home button is not all that good, not something that should be in a premium phone like S3
6>Not a status symbol: You`ll hardly see the wow effect in ppl when they see the phone.
7>Average Battery: Battery life is average. And with 3g its below average.
8>S-Voice: Pathetic. It hardly identifies anything. And the explanation given by Samsung Store in Forum Mall, Koramangala Bangalore was that I should speak in UK accent and only then it`ld understand. Give me a Break!!!
9>S-Beam: Never got a chance to try, as it works only from S3 to S3. So its a waste.
10>Earphones: Not all that great, gives a weird feeling when you wear it, as if there is a vacuum created inside your ear.

Apart from these the phone is awesome. Cam is good, Music quality is awesome(probably because I’ve Bose earphones). Awesome screen and doesn’t feel all that big in your hands.

Awesome phone, however its not worth 39K.

First of all This phone beats d HTC one X HANDS DOWN! You can go and google d performance tests and you’ll see that d antutu benchmarks marks d s3 2000 points ahead d One X. Design wise, I just don’t get why people don’t like it. It is in no way plasticy and cheap. d design is AMAZING. Not to say d one X is not good looking it may even be better than d S3 but this isn’t in anyway ugly. d only way I see d One X beating d S3 is n terms of d Audio quality of d speaker(Headphones wise, S3 still is unmatched). That is thanks to d Beats Audio speaker in d one X. Other than that, you can NEVER expand d ONE X’s memory, no user replacable battery and an interface(HTC SENSE) that is laggy at times. d battery on d ONE X is lower than that on d S3 as well.
Now lets start with d actual review, for d S3
    Design:
I admit, d design of d S2 was much better, but this is, in no way, bad. There are only two things I’d like to point out though, Cons mostly, if you have d phone in one hand and want to acces d coners, ur hand, mst probably, wn’t reach. I have lng fngrs and mine don’t. Secondly, bcz d tch snstve butons below d screen are made 2 fit in such a small area, it makes it a litle tough 2 press thse keys while loking at d screen. Bt thse r d only 2 minor isues I fnd dat 2 just on d 1st day of use, You can very easily gt usd to it in a cple of days of use as I have.
d screen size(After you get used 2 it) is just d right mix of a tblt and a 4.0 inch phone. Personally, I thought Note ws ovr sizd. d bck cvr however is flimsy. It wnt break but it is prety flexible bt as soon as u atach it, it bcoms sturdy.d optns & bck keys r back lit & d best prt & a vry imp feature 2 me is dat dey cn b trned off at will.
    Cam:
d camera on dis is awsm & d bst evr(dr’s proof). 0 shutr lag. Though it lacks the feature the X has: you hold the shuter and it goes on clicking. The front camera shots 720p viedo by the way. The buddy share feature is a good concept but Couldn’t try it out because I know of no one else who has an s3.
    Processor:
Okay let me clear something out, this phone has a 1.4GHz processor & the X has a 1.5GHz Tegra processor. The S3’s 1.4 beats the Tegra hands down believe it or not. Go see the comparisons on you tube if you wouldn’t believe me.
Even the Graphic card on the s3(mali 400 Quad core) just manages to edge out in the graphics comparison.
    Screen:
It’s GORGEOUS! You need to see it to believe it! Literally. Although the brightness on this one is lesser than that on the One X but you can still view the screen in broad daylight.
Software: Here is where the ONE X doesn’t stand a chance against the S3. HTC is known how they sacrifice performance for prettiness on their phones & add unnecessary clutter on their phones & this isn’t an exception & this is the sole reason why it gets slow some times. The S3 however, in my book, hit exactly the right spots. They have just a few pre installed apps. Other than that there are many bells & whistles Samsung has added just like you can view your HD video in a small window while playing your game or anything else. Handles 1080p videos well btw. Then the smart stay feature actually works. Playing some music? place your hand on the screen or place the phone upside down &it will pause. So will any incoming call. Trust me, I can go on &on.
    A very important feature:
USB OTG: USB On the GO means you get a converter &you can attach a whole array of accessories to this device. eg: A pen drive, a ps3 to play games such as GTA 3, an external hard drive(Yes even that) USB hub, keyboard mouse(the pointer actually shows up &it works amazingly well.) etc There is a video on youtube showing the same &all you need to do is plug them in, no extra work.
Lastly, it is currently, the fastest mobile device out there. Not even a single tablet(Let alone a phone) can beat it. Not even the transformer prime.

    CONS &cautions:
The Sim card has to be made into a microsim card but that’s a standard with all new phones these days. Even the X. But no worries, they would do it for you. I bought mine from a local vendor so..Otherwise it can be done at your cellular operators office as well. The battery life isn’t very good. But you can’t expect that with such immense power. Still, it will last you through a day of use.
    .
My final verdict: Get it now. You have no idea what you’re missing on. Trust me, you would barely need your computer after this phone. One X isn’t anything compared to this phone.
PS: This phone is totally worth it. I would never say that for any other phone I guess not even my old Incredible S

I had liked Galaxy S2, and was looking for a replacement . I borrowed each one for three days from my retailer, and finally chose HTC One X. My impressions were:

    a. Display- Both are impressive. Though, I liked Samsung Super Amoled display for vivid colors, but in direct sunlight HTC one was better.

    b. Battery: Both were ok for my kind of usage, mostly in an office environment. Though HTC gets a little hot, and battery is also not user replaceable.

    c. Storage: Samsung is 16GB, but you can add another 64GB. HTC has no such option, though has 32GB. Both come with 1GB RAM. For me 32GB on-board space was enough, as I was quite happy with 16GB on my S2.

    d. Camera: Both were awesome for my limited needs.

    e. Price: HTC One X was 4k less, though it has 16GB more space.

    f. Brand: I was disappointed with Samsung’s treatment of its Indian customers. India is always last to receive any updates. In fact, India was one of of the last countries to receive ICS update on S2, almost two and half months after they released in Korea and several European countries.

Both are impressive phones. For me S3 negatives were Price and Samsung’s update policy for India (5/7), while for OneX minus is non-user-replaceable battery (6/7).

I bought this phone one month before, And i had a feeling that i should have waited for 20 more days for S4 release.
Now I am very satisfied about buying S3 when i saw S4 which is a plastic phone(very delicate one) and there is not much difference in S4 features apart from the front camera innovations (which recognizes your hand motions, eyes etc etc and performs actions) which many people wont like, S Health is one new App which i found very interesting in S4.Rest of them are available in S3 as well
