10 reviews for Samsung Galaxy S6
Note : **Some of the reviews are picked from flipkart, Amazon and other e-stores.

  1. Rated 1 out of 5

The sellers who probably are hand in glove with Chinese/cheap suppliers using flipkart to dump off the goods and nothing is returned as their return policy disclaimers are completely seller friendly .
Lets see till how long the show continues

I was puzzled a lot between the samsung s6 and the htc m9+ which were both good on spec if you do a comparison on gsmarena. Here’s the reason why I chose S6:

    1. Camera: Clearly the better of the two. Samsung has had a history of good camera’s and it doesn’t disappoint.
    2. Processor: With an antutu rating in the 67k+ range, its the fastet phone there is, and even the mediatek processor from m9+ doesnt come close.
    3. Design: Its a newer fresher design, and so good to hold.
    4. Battery: even though the battery is smaller, it has fast charging, means I can charge to 50% in about 20 minutes.
    5. Touchwiz is much improved. If you’re ruing the old heavily loaded GUIs with a lot of apps, its done a good task of hiding them and making it look classy.
    6. Split Screen. This is just for show value but definitely a good option.

My only concern will arrive 2 years later, when the phone is old and Samsung will stop OTA updates, which it has a history of doing. Just hope that it doesnt happen for this one, hence the 4 stars.

    DESIGN AND DISPLAY:
A beautiful and bold design by SAMSUNG, It’s only once you pick it up that you grasp its significance – the reality that this is like no Samsung that’s come before. It is slim sandwich of glass and aluminum, 6.8mm thick and very lightweight at 138g. Everything from button travel and feedback to the SIM tray’s ejection mechanism is top-notch. While it may look like an APPLE knock off there’s plenty of Samsung’s ID to set it apart. It boasts of Quad HD display with 577 pixels every inch. Gone is the cumbersome and awkward swipe sensor of yesteryear: the S6’s fingerprint reader is instead a simple press-and-hold affair – another APPLE knock off.

    SOFTWARE:
At first glance, the new software doesn’t seem all that different. The goofy icons and garish colors of past builds still shine brightly from the out-of-box software. A new introduction this year is theming capability allowing you to change the look and feel of everything on the screen. Multi Window, one of the Galaxy line’s biggest standouts, is still here – and it’s still the best implementation of side-by-side multitasking on any smartphone. Though all this sounds good but i would have loved a custom ROM with few multitasking abilities thrown in from SAMSUNG. Although this time around you can uninstall most of the SAMSUNG bloat ware and even GOOGLE’s own applications. We all know how badly the SAMSUNG’s software age, let’s hope it does well this time around.

    CAMERA:
Gone are the pop-up panels filled with pages of buttons; gone are the thumb carousels with oversized icons. In their place is a sleek, minimal viewfinder with drop-down quick toggles on the left and shutter/capture buttons on the right, anchored by a circular shortcut leading to a small hub of shooting modes. A handful are preloaded out of the box, and if you miss older Galaxy mainstays like Sports Mode or Sound & Shot, don’t fret – they’re easy to find and download. Of course Samsung couldn’t help but add something here, and fortunately it’s pretty cool: “Virtual Shot” lets you to combine multiple angles of a subject into a single faux-3D photo. You can then change the viewing angle either with a finger or by physically moving the device.

By default, the camera will shoot with automatic settings and decide for itself if night mode or additional stabilization is needed. HDR can also be set to auto-enable, and there’s a Pro setting for manual adjustments. The best feature of the Galaxy S6’s camera is even if you ignore every setting in the software, odds are you’ll still manage an excellent photo. The optically-stabilized 16MP sensor offers enough resolution for very crisp shots, this camera’s f/1.9 aperture and optical stabilization combine to pull out a lot of light without the need for the harsh LED flash. Combine this with the front-facing camera and its wide-angle lens, and the still side of the scene is pretty well-covered.

    Pros
    + High-quality fit and finish
    + Powerful hardware
+ One of the best displays ever built into a smartphone
    + Outstanding camera

    Cons
    – Poor battery life
    – Slippery construction

This phone packs a punch. I bought it through pre-ordering and have been using this phone since last 2 weeks. I was thrilled. The screen, responsiveness, battery life – all is just amazing. Coupled with it the turbo charger charges the phone from 0 to 100% in 1.2 hours flat. The touchwiz is light and very responsive. The camera is also best in market for smartphones with great low light pictures.
Don’t go by stupid gimmicky comparisons – this is the best samsung phone yet and you will be swept by the quality and beauty of its construction.

Every 6 months, ‘Change the phone’ bug bites me. It’s been a long list from Blackberry to Iphone- 3gs, 4, 4s to almost all the budget phones in that order- Moto G, Lumia 535, HTC 516, HTC 820 and the last one being Asus Zenfone2- 4GB-2.3 Ghz. And I’ve always wondered on anyone would spend a fortune on a ‘flagship’ when all the specs are right there for less than half the price!!
Well, this time I went with lets spend some money and feel stupid about it mode. The list was restricted to only the flagships- Iphone 6/6s, HTC M8/M9, Sony Z5,Samsung S6/Edge. It took almost a week to finalize S6 as the final option. Driving factors were simple for me
-Not a fan of iTunes and hate hours that I’ll need to spend on data transfer
-Z5 could find only the premium and boy, they do really charge a premium. The mixed user reviews put me off on this one
    – HTC- I had 2 HTCs and my friend who owns an M8 advised against it, You enjoy it for the first 30 days and then bugs creep in. Well, it’s the north of 50K, so this one fell flat
S6- Went to the samsung showroom and the I had a huge smile on my face when I took the device in my hand!! Heart wins with this one and the negative reviews fell on deaf ears. Online order was slick as usual with Flipkart, 2 days to deliver and a brand new product with no blemishes on it!!
    Pros:
Discussed too many times and the same list checks on every count for me.
-Sleek and really beautiful- I prefer the black, but blue & gold are excellent choices who can carry it off
    – Really fast performance, switching screen, HD games, internet don’t even take a sec
    – Did not notice even slight warmth with heavy use- 12 apps in the background (including 2 games and I was browsing on 4g for about 15 mins. This is a big plus for me!!
    – Crisp screen, beautiful colour reproduction, excellent music output with ‘headphones’, camera better that Iphone 6!! literally fought with my wife to prove her iphone6 cam is not even close to this one, especially the front one.

    Cons
    – Wish the battery lasted one full day. This one runs out of juice by 6:00 p.m and definitely needs a boost in the evening. Fast charging helps here and concerns during travel answered with a power bank.
    – Loudspeaker (hands off) could be better. HTC is way better than this one. Even the Asus was louder!!
    – It’s too slim and slippery, get a back cover. Gives me scares every time I reach for this one from my pocket. Guess 3/4 years with tacky plasticky budget phones didn’t help either
    – Indian SIM only!! Why would anyone do that? This means I need to get another phone for the occasional International travels!!
All budget phones gives these same specs or better. Infact, I didn’t even feel happy the first day thinking about the Money spent!! Well, now I know why few phones costs so much. It can’t explained in words- there’s a smile everytime I look at this piece and yes, a scare if something were to happen to this one- too much money you see :).
If you can afford it, get one. You would stop thinking about all the cons in 2 days. The +ves far outweigh the -ves.

I purchased it form Samsung Smart cafe store. It cost me just 42000 which included the wireless charger worth 3000 & selfie stick. Front & back scratch guard. This is my first phone with AMOLED screen & I just love it. Phone is reponsive. Camera is really comparable to that of iPhone.zero shutter lag I would say. Its very slippery because of the metal & glass body design. So a back cover is a must.

Samsung comes back with a bang
Finally, Samsung decided to listen to the frequent woes by the users to get a change in the usual form factor using plastic. Though S5 wasn’t a bad phone, its design was the reason why Samsung lost its top position as a smartphone vendor. So Samsung beautifully crafted S6 in metal and glass added on with the best specs any phone can get right now.

    Design:
Metal and glass is a terrific combination. Sony had showed us that earlier with Xperia Z3. Samsung follows the suit with an elegant design. It depends on the perspective, but its a huge leap forward from the S5.

    Performance:
Performance is crispy and smooth with the new trimmed down Touchwiz. I tried installing numerous apps and never experienced any sorts of lag. It tops almost all benchmarks and real life performance is really good as well.

    Display:
S6 has arguably the best display currently. 2k resolution makes the display so hsarp and it really reflects while reading e-books or while web browsing. 1080p would have sufficed on this 5.1″ screen, but having 2k wouldn’t hurt though.

    Camera:
This is the best part of this phone. S6 takes mind blowing pictures both during bright an d low light conditions. Auto HDR and tracking Auto Focus are really good and all these lets even an amateur photographer take a good snap. Video quality is quite good as well but 32 gb storage might limit the recording 4k videos to an extent.

    UI:
Touchwiz has improved a lot and its a lot crispier than its predecessors. Touchwiz includes various features that are missed out in the stock Lollipop like the clear all option in recent apps. The newly added theme support raises the interests if you’re into changing the UI frequently. Various goodies like multi window, Smart stay, Smart alert etc are still present in S6.Biggest con i found here was that I couldn’t find an option to arrange the apps alphabetically which is really needed if we have too many apps. Hope they brings it in the next update.

    Battery:
2550 mah battery definitely raises some eyebrows. But it definitely lasts an entire with a normal usage of calls, browsing and gaming. It might be due to the better optimization or the latest 14 nm Exynos 7420 which has better efficiency. And the battery being non removable isn’t really a deal breaker for me, as long as it gives good backup. But I hope the replacement isn’t gonna be too expensive if its required.

    Storage:
Missing out external SD Card support could be a great con for many. But if that was done to provide better performance(S6 uses UFS 2.0 which provides thrice the reading and writing speed compared to the rest), it can forgiven. But the pricing for higher memory options are quite steep.

Overall Galaxy S6 is a perfect offering by Samsung with a few cons which are definitely overshadowed by its pros. The overheating issues about Snapdragon 810 in HTC M9 and other flagships about to be released might sway the wind in Samsung’s direction. If you want a premium flagship worth the money, go for this phone. It is definitely better than other phones in this price range.

    Verdict: Go for it!
