36 reviews for Sony Xperia Z
Note : **Some of the reviews are picked from flipkart, Amazon and other e-stores.

  1. Rated 5 out of 5

    Pawan Vyas

I read some of these people posting bogus reviews of this phone while they don’t even own it. I own it but I didn’t buy it from flipkart. I bought it from Vijay Sales on Day One as I couldn’t wait for it. Regardless, most of the people here don’t even know what this phone is capable of and yet they are comparing it to other phones that haven’t even launched yet. It’s silly, it’s as if they have next to zero knowledge of what they are doing.
Never mind the bogus reviewers. Let’s get started:

1 – Hands down it has one of the greatest displays. You’ll literally be stunned when you see things floating around on your screen. Don’t fall in for what people are saying it has bad viewing angles. Why would you want to use your phone at less than 30degrees anyways? You don’t plan to stress out your eyes, do you? It’s a great display, ignore the idiots who say it’s bad.

2 – Is it strong/durable? Is it really waterproof? Does it stand up to it’s expectations of being ultra durable? Yes, yes and yes. Only thing you should know is that the flaps should be closed if the phone is supposed to come in contact with water. If not, well you’re out of luck. I’ve used it extensively in the bathroom and it definitely stands up to it’s expectations. About durability – the skeleton frame is made of glass fibre polymide, the material which car companies use in replacement for metal, yup. So that’s got to be tough. Glass is Dragontrail, which is about 6-7 times better than Gorilla Glass 3. So it’s drop proof from a normal height.

3 – The Technical Part – I decided to keep this for the end because I feel that when you invest a huge sum of your money into a product which you’ll be using on a daily or let’s make it hourly basis it must be durable, and reliable. Me, I’ve always stayed away from smartphones only for the sole reason that I wouldn’t want to drop it or spill water on it randomly and see my phone getting destroyed. Even so, I came close to buying a Note 2. But when I saw the Xperia Z launch at CES’13, I made up my mind that – “Yes, this is my first smartphone. This is the one!”. So yea it’s my first smartphone, ever. Anyways, everything runs on the phone is ultra smooth. No lags, no annoying freezes. Great UI, elegant and sober! It’s a pleasure to use this phone. I’m a big time game buff, but I’ve always avoided games on cellphones, I have a PC and a PSP for all gaming I need. So i can’t comment much on this phone’s gaming performance, but I’m sure it’s pretty darn good.

4 – Negatives. Only one bad part I’ve noticed is that it sort of heats up a bit after let’s say 3-4 hours of continuous usage. Again heats up only after 3-4 hours, not instantly. But what better solution to dip it in cold water, right? Yep! I figured that since it’s water proof why not I just go ahead and dip it in water for a few seconds and dispose off all the heat! It’s perfect.

5 – How is the camera? Is HDR really good? I’ll be honest, I don’t really care much about all the HDR and other features, but the camera is pretty good. The options you get to tweak around with are plentiful. HDR is best experienced when you are outside or in high/low light situations. Normally you won’t experience much of a difference but it’s there.

6 – Sound. Sound is crisp and solid. And I don’t use the headphones provided by Sony, either of them(one in the box and the free over-the-ear set). I use Razer Moray+, so maybe what I hear in the Moray+ might be significantly different than compared to Sony’s own headphones. I’m guessing they are still great, no reason not to be great.

So I’ll conclude that currently the Xperia Z is the best smartphone out there. The 4 cores are MORE than enough. I’ll tell you if you think your S4 with 8 cores is going to make you Superman, then you are outright dumb. 8 core means nothing when it comes to smartphone. There won’t be any application which will utilize even a fraction of those 8 cores. You don’t need that much power, it’s a waste of resources. Don’t jump on the 8 core bandwagon without knowing jackshit about it. Also, I saw the S4 launch in NY live on my PC. Frankly it’s just an upgraded version of S3, it looks the same, there are more gimmicky softwares, more bloatwares, useless features, senseless addition of 8 cores, no water proofing no dust/drop proofing. Would be higher in price. So why buy it? Just coz Samsung says so? Well then what’s the difference between you and iSheeps?
    Think about it.

TL;DR => Worth the 38k, won’t find a better phone, period. Go for it. Ignore Samsung fanboys. They are just hating because the S4 can not withstand this masterpiece, so they’ll make stuff just to bluff you. Don’t let them succeed.

worth every penny, was worried with all the comments online about display and sound, its just overwhelming, the headset is good enough. use the plastic stick provided in the scratch guard pack to remove the N logo on the back side before pasting the scratch guard.

I am a Samsung fanboy since past 3 years. BUT I am in love with this BEAUTY !! Thinking to switch over !
    1) Design (simply sexy…….something completely new compared to sammys same plastic design )
    2) Reliabilty of Sony
    3) Durability(waterproof and dust proof)
    4) Sound.
    5) Size and weight.
    6) Great UI.
    7) Sony bravia engine 2 for viewing crisp images…..
note : Screen display is good and gives true colors unlike sammy !!

BUT some issues in my mind before buying it……
    1) Some users complaining about wifi issues…..i am not sure but out of 100 reviews i read 20 people are complaining about wifi connectivity issues….(i am totally dependent on wifi, so please do add some reviews regarding its wifi connectivity)
    2) Heating issue…..
    3) Though battery is 2330mAh it is a little weak…….(Sony is not well known for battery life) ….pls note>> quad core processors, full HD displays, Gaming tend to use more battery….
    4) Camera quality not upto the mark.
    5) HDMI port is not given.
    6) Some are complaining about bad viewing angles…..yes there are bad viewing angles compared to sgs3 and HTC butterfly…..but nothing major in it….its simple >I hold the phone, i See the phone !!

    Final verdict:
Apart from few cons(which every phone have) this phone is worth a buy.
Awesome is the only word for this beauty !!
    X – xcellent !
    P – phenomenal !
    E – elegant !
    R – ravishing !
    I – impressive !
    A – adventurous !

    Z – zippy !
    GO XPERIA !!

according 2 naga raja super amoled display is the best but in real life according to you tube comparison test this comes after htc lcd3 display and sony TFT.
secondly he don’t know what is gorilla glass,he is comparing gorilla glass 2 bravia engine.this makes me laugh, after reading this part i know he don’t know anything and he is also using any of samsung phone,so thats why he don’t know about bravia engine.
thirdly s4 is not having HDR feature which is a drawback for camera loving people,s4 is just having useless features which they copied from lumia920….
s4 is having many cool features but in real life its just a features which u will used it ones in a week.
he just describe the battery power, but he don’t know that according 2 powers we can’t tell that it is having better battery life, for this details read any other review except naga raja review,he don’t know anything about smart phones he just copied features of s4 and declare it a best phone, till now we don’t know how much successful is these features are.
if u want a camera phone then buy lumia920,if u want great phone then htc one or xperia Z,and if u want just a useless feature phone then u can pay more and buy s4.
and s3 is a successful phone because last year we have only 2 option one is htc one x and s3 so s3 wins because of marketing but this year we have three best phones htc one, xperia Z and s4,…so this year story is not same.i think he is a son of Anil Ambani who buys only higher end set like s4 and iphone.Nanga Raja is just a complete moron and samsung fanboy who never used any other companies smart phones.

    Hi Flipkart

See i’m planning to buy XPeria z via your website.. but i got so many dealers and so many negative comments on those dealers.

And also the price is different for each dealer. SO how can i know which one should i be buying , forget about those silly offers. I want a genuine product with a reasonable price. for Ex: I bought a book from your website it was genuine and it HAD ONLY ONE PRICE AND IT WAS TRUSTWORTHY. Now that when i tried to order a phone there are too many dealers and price variation. Now i have to completely relay on feedbacks of customer who bought the item from those sellers right ?, but there is a negative comment on each seller.and in one feedback customer said. I ordered Cyan Nokia lumia but i got black !!. Can you Explain this !!

you have nicely put such cover page, but failed to see what bad impression you’re giving out to customers.

Flip-kart is losing its Credibility because of the sellers thing you have introduced.

Let there be only one price for a smart phone !, One offer one seller and Genuine. Instead of confusing Customers.

    My fellow smartphone users..
You would like to know that performance wise, the Xperia Z is not far from Samsung Galaxy S4.
While Samsung did announce that ‘Galaxy S4’ would consist of ‘Exynos 5 Octa 5410’ chipset, the phone DOES NOT work on 8 cores! It consists of 2 quad-core processors for efficiency purpose (Quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A15 & Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7) . So at a given point of time, the phone uses one of the either processors. Therefore, it is illogical to say that the phone runs on 8 cores!
While Samsung will clock its primary processor to 1.6 Ghz, Xperia’s ‘Snapdragon S4’ isn’t far behind, clocked to 1.5 Ghz. (Snapdragon S4 and Adreno 320 are good enough)
And, given that it is tough and water resistant (big deal, personally), Xperia Z is still winner for me! 🙂

    The good:
    1) The Sony xperia z draws the eye with its sleek, stylish looks and It also offers a wide range of functions
2)Offering a 28mm equivalent fixed lens with a fast aperture of F2.2 Xperia Z also boasts a 13 megapixel Exmor RS image sensor.
    The bad:
1.) Xperia z does not come with the latest version of android.
2)the back portion of the phone often heats up during heavy games.

verdict- With a cutting-edge camera, a super-slim design and the ability to withstand life’s knocks and bumps the Xperia Z is a phone that’s got us fired up about Sony Mobile again but i would recommend u to wait for new smartphone like SGS4 and htc one to launch in the indian market!

PLEASE BEWARE THAT THIS XPERIA Z model sold by FLIPKART is C6602 WHICH NON LTE/ NON 4G. MODEL C6603 for XPERIA Z is 4G. I was really disappointed as I wanted to buy 4G phone only. That’s vy I have reduced the rating to 3 as it does not fulfill the primary reason for the purchase i,e 4G. I asked for replacement or refund which flipkart has said no. So I am going to file case in consumer court. Please contact me on [email protected] if you feel that you have been cheated.

after comparing S4 and xperia Z i have noticed that in our day 2 day life Xperia Z is more useful…..S4 is having just a useless features…..S4 display is also bad in front of Xperia Z after using bravia engine…..please go and see on you tube….sony drawback is just a viewing angle but that is not a big issue because u will use ur phone 99% times in front of ur eyes….Sony headphone sound is also far better than any phone of samsung u will feel the bass and trebel in sony phones and that will blow ur head…..if u want 2 experiance touch less screen then buy cheaper Xperia sola… is having stamina mode for battery…don’t go with just mah….its about use….it will last 4 a full day in 3g network with heavy use……and if u r not a heavy users then it will last for a 1-2 days…..atlast Xperia Z is also having water and dust proff……which is always a welcome side for a 38k price phone…..S4 is having octa-core and Xperia Z is having quad core…but take my word u can’t feel any difference in day 2 day life…..the major drawback of S4 is its looks….same as S3…..means cheap plastic…i don’t think u r fool enough 2 invest 40k on a cheap plastic phone….where as Xperia Z is much more awesome in looks….u feel the difference in ur hand…please go and feel xperia Z in ur hand before buying s4……i m sure u fall in love with Xperia Z…..and if u want to feel S4 then go and see S3 because they both r 99% same in looks… lastly camera xperia Z and S4 both r using 13mp camera and here both r having there own features so here there is a draw………..and lastly if u don’t want Xperia Z then u must check Htc one because…… Xperia Z = Htc one >>>> S4……..

I never thought , i will write this kind of review for Sony, when you are addicted to Sony Sound, This is my 5th Sony mobile, With no droppage or pressure , screen got broken, Can’t believe it’s that much delegate. Now they are asking for 20 k to replace this phone, their is no other option, even if it’s my fault , I am ready to pay for screen , but why I should pay for whole phone. even the local market guys are asking for 12K, whether genuine or not.

It’s a genuine feedback in every word.
