Xiaomi today launched the much-awaited, The Redmi Note 5 Pro in India through a live launch event along with two other products named as MI LED Smart TV and Redmi Note 5. Handset features Full View display, dual rear camera setup, up to 6GB of RAM, 20 MP selfie camera and larger battery. It also marks the global debut of Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor. It is priced at Rs.13,999 to Rs.16,999 depending on storage and RAM options.
The Redmi Note 5 which is actually a Indian variant of Redmi 5 Plus has not gone up to the expectations of users. But same is not true, as company also launched Pro variant of it with whole new set of specifications and features. The Redmi Note 5 Pro packs best in the league configurations that too in the limited price.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro runs MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat and expected to receive android Oreo in few weeks. It sports a 5.99-inch Full HD display with 2160 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio by ditching the physical capacitive buttons on the front panel. Display offers 403 PPI pixel density and protected with curved 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass. The round edge corners helps device to protect from damages. It is powered by newly debuted Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core CPU clocked at maximum speed of 1.8GHz paired with either 4GB RAM or 6GB RAM.
On accounting cameras, Redmi Note 5 Pro features a dual camera setup at the back side and looks like iPhone X camera. The dual camera packs two lenses of 12 mega-pixel and 5 mega-pixel with f/2.2 and f/2.0 aperture respectively. Not following the tradition, Xiaomi has decided to provide larger lenses on the front as well, as the device packs a 20 mega-pixel selfie Sony IMX376 shooter with Beautification 4.0 technology (based on AI, able to recognise bindis as well). In terms of storage, it features 32GB and 64GB along with 4GB/6GB RAM.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro also supports different methods of biometric authentications like fingerprint sensor (mounted on the back) and facial recognition technology (unlocks phone in 0.2 second). It is charged up by a battery of 4000 mAH supported with 5V/2A fast charging.
The first flash sale of Redmi Note 5 Pro will commence on 22nd February through Flipkart and MI India official store. Handset will be available through offline channels after the initial sale. The 4GB RAM variant is priced at Rs.13,999 while 6GB RAM variant will cost Rs.16,999 in India.
