On Thursday, Samsung unveiled its next generation, new Exynos 9810 mobile processor with enchanced performance and deep learning features. The Exynos series 9 9810 SoC is engineered to provide unlimited possibilities to a mobile. It has been optimized for AI workloads, the most innovative mobile processor yet as claimed by the company. New chipset promises to increase single core performance by two times and multi core performance by 40-percent in comparison to the predecessor. Samsung claims that new mobile processor tries to push the limits of mobile innovation.
Samsung’s Exynos 9810 chipset
As tipped earlier, Exynos 9810 chipset is built on latest 2nd Generation 10nm LPP FinFET technology. Announcing the SoC, Ben Hur, vice president of System LSI marketing at Samsung Electronics said;
“The Exynos 9 Series 9810 is our most innovative mobile processor yet, with our third-generation custom CPU, ultra-fast gigabit LTE modem and, deep learning-enhanced image processing.”
“The Exynos 9810 will be a key catalyst for innovation in smart platforms such as smartphones, personal computing and automotive for the coming Artificial intelligence era.”
Features of Samsung’s Exynos 9810 Processor
South Korean company offered limitless possibilities with the announcement of new chipset in the house. Deep Machine Learning
New Exynos 9810 SoC offers higher intelligence at your fingertips. This processor learns from user behavior as it is incorporated with deep-learning based softwares. It can identify persons or objects helpful in faster image search and categorization, map the face of User using 3D technology and much more. It has introduced features like neural network-based algos which uses both hardware and software to boost these AI integrations. Company said;
“The Exynos 9810 enables a depth sensing feature to scan user’s face in 3D for face tracking filters as well as strong security when unlocking a device with one’s face.”
Faster Than Before and Better Graphics
The octa-core processor made up of four performance cores (4 x 2.9GHz) (custom CPUs) and four efficiency cores clocked at 1.9GHz speed (cortex A-55) that provides seamless multi-tasking and computing much faster than the predecessor. Company has confirmed upgraded CPUs with wider pipeline and optimized cache memory to enhance performance. It packs latest in house 2nd Generation ARM Mali-G72 MP18 GPU built on Bitfrost architecture that brings more realistic graphics with 20 percent more powerful performance and lower power consumption. This will improve gaming graphics on Samsung smartphones.
Samsung says that Exynos 9810 mobile application processor increase the performance of multi-cores by 40-percent. But how Samsung reached to this result, has been not answered in detail yet.
The Exynos 9810 protects the software against malicious attack by combining binary encryption with better DRAM encryption. An intelligent firewall that separates sub-system from each other so that main system can be safeguarded in case unauthorized access is provided to other sub-system. It takes to protect user information like fingerprint data, Iris data and payments details, biometric authentications and facial information.
Superfast Download and Upload Speeds over LTE modem
It features a super fast LTE modem that supports category 18 6 Career Aggregation for downlink speed and 2 Career aggregation for uplink speed. The Exynos 9810 chipset offers up to 1.2 GBPS and 200 MBPS speeds for download and upload respectively.
Immersive Videos with Ultimate details
Turn your life into memories with advance detailing on the Exynos 9810 mobile processor as it supports 4K Ultra HD video framing along with playback at up to 120fps. Multi-Format codex supports 10-bit HEVC and VP9 codecs that can render 1,024 different tones for each primary colours, useful for creating highly immersive videos. Certain enhancement took place in audio subsystem for providing better processing while playback.
Optimizations for Camera
Samsung’s Exynos 9 series 9810 SoC features dual image signal processor that supports four cameras at a time. It means users can enjoy dual camera setup on both rear as well as front side of smartphone. Dual ISP is made to utilize low power while taking photographs. According to recent buzz in smartphone industry, Exynos 9810 will be commercial through Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones along with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC (as some Galaxy S9 will feature Snapdragon 845 processor).
