Samsung Galaxy Note 9 might feature under-display fingerprint sensor, says KGI report | Date : August 6, 2017
The upcoming Galaxy Note 9 is tipped to sport an under-display fingerprint sensor. According to a report published at KGI, Samsung does not want to risk the quick implementation of under-screen fingerprint technology in Galaxy S9 and S9+, instead it will be used in Note flagship launching next year.
Earlier, Apple and Samsung were in competition to bring the technology to their smartphones. However, neither of them have been successful in implementing in-display fingerprint to the actual smartphone as of March, 2018. In January, 2018, Vivo becomes the world’s first company to bring a phone with in-display fingerprint sensor in Vivo X20 Plus UD and X21 UD.
The same KGI report also pointed that company will switch from Synaptics to Egis for the supply of such fingerprint sensors. Later they discarded this report stating that handset will not feature any technology like this.

Talking about the patent, company filed a patent along with few drawings to understand how this tech innovation will break. The drawing shows a bendable S Pen, so that it can be used as a microphone or breathalyzer and a smaller part of it will always remain outside from the slot, that houses it. That small section of the S Pen will have a gas sensor inside of it, and it comes with an exhalation sensing function. There is a microphone in there, and it will work in combination with gas sensor to analyse the alcohol consumed through your breathe, so as to avoid drunken calls.
We are not sure if such a concept can be put in a product, but anyways if happens to be true and seen in next Galaxy Note 9 flagship phone, it will be so cool.

Samsung Electronics filed a patent with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) on May 12, 2017 to produce a display with holes on the board to house front camera and iris scanner. After the full screen display is in picture, manufacturers are trying to bring more innovative ways to offer larger screen estate to the customers. On that trend, iPhone X launched with notch on the display and OnePlus 6 is also confirmed to embrace the notch. The displays over the time have featured several aspect ratios of 16:9, 18:9, 19:9, 18:5:9 and if above patent comes to the reality, then 21:9 aspect ratio might come to the picture.

Another report claims sporting of under-display fingerprint sensor in the phablet | March 22, 2018
Leaks and rumours have been rolling out on the web, supporting both sides of the story that Galaxy Note 9 might or might not sport an under-screen fingerprint sensor. Recently, Korea Herald published a report claiming the packing of this technology.
Samsung Galaxy S8 and Note8 has irritated some users as fingerprint position above the snappers cause to ruin out their experience. In the S9 duo, company made few changes to the fingerprint position and moved it below the rear shooter. But, that stops the manufacturer from putting larger battery inside the device. To avoid this compromise, they might opt for in-display fingerprint scanner, cites the report.
Same source revealed to the publisher that “Samsung Display has prepared three or four solutions for Samsung Electronics to embed the fingerprint sensor inside of the main display, and both are seriously considering one of the solutions.”

The listing details out SM-N950U model number which relates to upcoming phablet as discussed above. The listing points that it will run Android 8.1 Oreo and will be powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 (for US variant). Listing further unfold that handset will feature 6GB RAM.
Coming to scores of Note9 in GeekBench test, it scored 2,190 for single core and 8,806 for multi-cores. If compared with Galaxy S9+ powered by Snapdragon 845, which scored 2,390 in single core test and 8,420 in multi-core test, then in terms of performance it might fair well. However, if we compare this result with Galaxy S9 powered with Exynos 9810, then these scores look much inferior as S9 scored 3,648 in single-core tests and 8,894 in multi-core tests.
