Samsung Electronics launched a line of Notebook laptops at CES 2018 in Las Vegas. South Korean giant took on to revamp its Notebook series laptops and announced three new Notebook 2-in-1 laptops, out of which two are upgraded variants and one is the new offering. Company went on to launch new Notebook 9 Pen, Notebook 9 (2018) – three versions unveiled and Notebook 7 Spin (2018) hybrid laptops. Let’s dive into them one by one
Samsung Notebook 9 Pen 2-in-1 Laptop
The Samsung Notebook 9 Pen (930QAA) 2 in 1 laptop sports a 13-inch Full HD RealViewTouch display (1080 x 1920 pixels). Highlight of 2-in-1 laptop is its bundled inbuilt S Pen with battery free operation for instant usage. Company claims that inbuilt S Pen can recognize 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity with a fine 0.7mm tip and natural tilt detection to allow a more natural writing and drawing experience for users.
Notebook 9 Pen is powered by a 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processor coupled with up to 16GB DDR4 RAM and up to 512GB HDD capacity. Powerful processor is buttered with Intel HD graphics. Body of the laptop is made up of magnesium-aluminum alloy called Metal12 which turns into a light weight 2-in-1 machine weighing at up to 1.29Kg.
It also includes a fingerprint sensor, backlit keyboard, USB Type-C port, 720 pixels HD Webcame with Windows Hello support, HDMI port, microSD card slot, regular USB port and precision touchpad. Notebook 9 Pen is fueled by a 39Wh battery and comes with small adapter (45W DC).
Another interesting feature on the laptop is capturing of GIFs or videos through S Pen. It will debut in US by Q1 2018 followed by other select countries. There is no official word on price of laptop and availability in India.

Samsung Notebook 9 (2018) 2 in 1 Laptops
The Samsung Notebook 9 (2018) hybrid laptops comes in three models. First one with 13.3-inch display (900X3T & 900X3U models), second with 15-inch screen (900X5T, 900X5U models) and last one with same 15-inch screen (Discreet Graphics 900X5T). The 2 in 1 laptops sports a Full HD Real View Touch display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. These laptops are powered by 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processor paired with Intel HD Graphics, up to 16GB DDR4 RAM and up to 1TB Solid-state drive.
Samsung Notebook 9 (2018) laptops supports Windows Hello with a suitable 720 pixels HD webcam. Notebooks comes with fingerprint sensor, precision touchpad, backlit keyboard, USB 3.0 Ports, HDMI port, microSD card slot, USB Type-C port, a bundled 65W DC-in adapter. These notebooks are powered by a 75Wh hexacell battery with pre-added support for fast charging that works well for ‘Always On technology in Laptops’. Samsung says that;
“Samsung Notebook 9 (2018) sports the largest and most powerful battery placed inside a notebook.”
The 15-inch variant has an additional advantage over other variants because it offers an option to upgrade to 2GB GDDR5 Nvidia GeForce MX150 graphics card. Company also went to declare that these 2-in-1 laptops will be presented in two colour variants – Titan Silver and Crush White. These notebooks are expected to hit stores in US in early 2018 and there is no official word on worldwide availability and prices yet.
Samsung Notebook 7 Spin (2018) 2-in-1 Laptop
The Samsung Notebook 7 Spin (2018) is a second generation variant of the previously launched Notebook 7 Spin back in 2016. It still keeps the 360-degree rotating touch screen and offers similar design to the first generation variant. No major change is instilled into the machine but certain new features and upgrades took place. Commenting on the launch, YoungGyoo Choi, Senior Vice President of the PC Business Team at Samsung Electronics said;
“Our customers wanted a functional, intuitive laptop that includes a wide range of features, and that’s what we have delivered with the Notebook 7 Spin (2018) hybrid laptop. This machine meet the needs of today’s digital lifestyle, combining work and play with a smart, seamless and personalized experience that connects users with their other devices.”
The hybrid laptop sports a 13.3-inch Full HD display with 1080 x 1920 pixels screen resolution. It is powered by 8th Gen Intel Core i5 processor paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD. Certain security features are included like Windows Hello powered fingerprint sensor and privacy folder. Laptop is fueled with a 43Wh battery.
The Notebook 7 Spin (2018) 2 in 1 laptop features an user interface for Active Pen to draw sketches and making notes, voice note (record voices on the go), microphone, USB Type-C port, USB 3.0 port, USB 2.0 port, precision touchpad, backlit keyboard, VGA webcam, HDMI port etc.
No update on the pricing of this 2-in-1 laptop are out yet. Spin 7 2018 is showcased at CES 2018 and expected to hit stores by Quarter 1, 2018 in US and other select countries will follow up.
