Sony has launched two new flagship smartphones in launch event held at Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona, Spain. The latest ones to hit the floor are dubbed as Sony Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact and both of these features taller than normal 18:9 aspect ratio display. Major USPs of these handsets are Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, HDR display, advanced motion eye camera technology and Android 8.0 Oreo. These phones are expected to be in stores by the end of March, 2018 and no official word is out on prices yet.
The successor of XZ series, Sony Xperia XZ2 runs Android 8.0 Oreo and supports Dual SIMs atleast for India. It packs an 5.7-inch FHD+ TRILUMINOS HDR display with 2160 x 1080 pixels of screen resolution and X-Reality display engine. Xperia XZ2 is powered by latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor where four of the performance cores are clocked at 2.7GHz speed and rest four efficiency cores are clocked at 1.7GHz speed. The most powerful processor is paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. Storage can be boosted up to 400GB with microSD card.
Sony Xperia XZ2 will be available for purchase in Liquid Black, Liquid Silver, Deep Green, and Ash Pink shades. Camera department completes with 19 mega-pixel rear sensor and 5 mega-pixel selfie sensor. Rear camera has f/2.0 aperture and 1.22 µm pixel size lens and supports advanced features like gyro EIS, predictive phase detection and laser autofocus and LED flash. The selfie camera has f/2.2 aperture and supports gyro EIS and video recording at 1080 pixels.
The Sony Xperia XZ2 is charged up by a 3180mAH capacity battery and supports quick charge 3.0 technology. Connectivity features includes USB Type-C 3.1 port, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, Wi-Fi, GPS, GLONASS, BDS, Galileo, wireless charging, and Google Cast. It is expected to be priced around Rs.62,999 and expected to reach stores by end of March, 2018.
Second one that got launched at MWC 2018 is the compact version of Xperia XZ2. It is smaller in display and size, that is why dubbed as Compact. The Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact runs Android 8.0 Oreo and supports Single/Dual SIMs depending upon the region. It packs a 5.0-inch FHD+ TRILUMINOS HDR display with 2160 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and X-Reality Engine. Screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It has same optical configurations just as mentioned above, a 19 mega-pixel rear and 5 mega-pixel front shooters are boarded to the device.
The Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core CPU paired with 4GB RAM and 64Gb ROM. It packs a battery of 2870mAH capacity supported with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology. Fingerprint sensor is mounted on the rear panel below the snappers.
Xperia XZ2 compact is expected to be priced around Rs.47,999 in India and will hit stores by the March end.
