World’s first smartphone with under-display fingerprint sensor has finally got a name, Vivo X20 Plus UD. Handset recently got listed on Chinese Website TENNA. Last week, Vivo showcased first smartphone to feature under-display fingerprint scanner at CES held at Las Vegas. Company launched Vivo X20 and X20 Plus back in October, 2017. The latest listing bears the same model name along with ‘UD’ which is short form of Under Display.
The Listing reveals certain key specifications on Vivo X20 Plus UD smartphone. It packs almost similar specifications to Vivo X20 Plus except the removal of square-shaped back mounted fingerprint sensor. It packs a 6.43-inch FHD+ OLED display with 1080 x 2160 pixels screen resolution. Display has OLED panel, which is utmost priority for under-screen fingerprint sensor to work. Smartphone has been powered by a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 660 processor paired with 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. Internal memory can be increased up to 256GB with the help of microSD cards.
In terms of optics, Vivo X20 Plus UD features a dual camera of 12 mega-pixel (f/1.8 aperture) + 5 mega-pixel sensors, accompanied by a selfie shooter of 12 mega-pixel with f/2.0 aperture. Handset will be fueled by a battery of 3800mAH capacity. It measures 165.2 × 80.02 × 7.35 mm in terms of dimensions and weighs around 183g. Mobile phone will be offered in various hues including Black Gold, Matte Black, Champagne Gold and Rose Gold.
Getting certification on TENNA confirms that launch date of Vivo X20 Plus UD is very near in China. Last week, Vivo announced while showcasing the first smartphone to house under-display fingerprint sensor, that handset is under mass production and will very soon reach to the customer. We expected a whole different model for this latest innovation, but Vivo has instead append the innovation to an old model. May be to get the tag of Flag bearer of this in-display biometric sensor technology.
Neither X20 nor X20 Plus had reached India but we expect this smartphone to be launched in India as well.
