The much-anticipated smartphone to house under-display fingerprint sensor is official from the house of Chinese mobile making company, Vivo. After going through initial showcase and several leaks and rumors, The Vivo X20 Plus UD has been launched officially in China with a price tag of Yuan 3598. Now, this smartphone holds the crown to become first handset to actually offer in-display fingerprint scanner. It is actually an souped up variant of previously launched Vivo X20 Plus.
The Vivo X20 Plus UD posses most of the features of standard variant. Key specifications of phone are already known to us, thanks to listing on a Chinese website. Major highlight of the phone is in-display fingerprint scanner that sits between glass protector and OLED panel and said to work up to under 1.5 mm thick layers. It is engineered by the company, Synaptics and they call it as Clear ID 9500. It might be the solution to the popular problem of position of fingerprint scanner as companies found experimenting with the position of same.
Apart from under-display fingerprint sensor, X20 Plus UD sports a 6.43-inch Super AMOLED display with taller than usual 18:9 aspect ratio and 2160 x 1080 pixels screen resolution. It runs dual SIMs on Android Nougat v7.1.1 operating system. It is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8956 Plus Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor where four high performance cores are clocked at 2.2GHz and other four efficiency cores are clocked at 1.8GHz speed. Snapdragon 660 is coupled with 4GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage (X20 Plus has only 64GB).
In terms of optics on phone, it packs a dual camera at the back side featuring 12 mega-pixel lens paired with another 5 mega-pixel sensor. Dual camera comes with f/1.8 aperture for low-lighting photography. It also offers a 12 mega-pixel shooter on the front side with f/2.0 aperture.
The Vivo X20 Plus UD packs a battery of 3900mAH capacity to provide longer usage hours. Other important features include Facial recognition technology, Game mode, GPS/A-GPS, USB OTG, Dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0 and 3.5mm headphone jack.
Vivo X20 Plus UD Price and Availability
Mobile phone is already listed on Vivo’s official store of China in Black Colour coated with golden frame. The first sale in China will begun from 1st February, 2018 at a price tag of CNY 3,598 (translates to INR 35,999).
We do not know anything about the global launch and availability yet. No variant of X20 series has made to India, but it is expected that Vivo X20 Plus UD will be launched in India within few coming weeks on above said price.
