Vivo has outed X21 and X21 UD in China yesterday through an official live streaming launch event. Vivo, who is known for becoming the first maker to produce a smartphone (Vivo X20 Plus UD) with under display fingerprint sensor. The successors of X20 are now out in two variants, first one X21, which is a basic variant without above said innovation while the second variant features that innovation. Apart from that 19:9 aspect ratio displays and Android Oreo 8.1 has been the attraction of the event. Most spec were already out before the event as it leaked several times ahead of the launch.
Vivo X21 & X21 UD Features, Price and Availability
Both the smartphones features same configurations except few minor changes such as packing of under-display fingerprint sensor on Vivo X21 UD which is absent on X21 and UD variant comes only in standard 128GB internal storage.
The Vivo X21 sports a 6.28-inch FHD+ display with 2280 x 1080 pixels resolution and taller 19:9 aspect ratio. A notch is present on the display which looks similar to what we have seen in iPhone X and Oppo R15 Dream Mirror, the notch houses the front camera and proximity sensors. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo based FunTouch OS 4.0 under the hood. It is powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor where four performance cores are clocked at 2.2GHz and other four efficiency cores are clocked at 1.8GHz speed. In terms of optical configurations, it sports a vertical dual rear camera like iPhone X featuring 12 megapixel (f/1.8 aperture, 1/2.5″, 1.4 µm pixel size lens, Dual Pixel PDAF) and 5 megapixel (f/2.4 aperture) sensors on the top. Vertical dual rear camera is accompanied by a 12 mega-pixel selfie sensor on the front panel with f/2.0 aperture and supports features like IR fill light, 3D mapping, and Face Wake facial recognition.
Vivo X21 comes in two internal storage variants of 64GB and 128GB pairing with 6GB RAM while the X21 UD comes in single 128GB internal storage coupled with 6GB RAM. In the basic variant, fingerprint sensor is mounted on the back side of handset and in standard variant it is placed under the screen. It packs a 3200mAh battery with fast charging support. Connectivity features includes, 4G VoLTE support, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, A-GPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth v5.0, USB 2.0 and USB OTG support. Both variants measures 154.5 x 74.8 x 7.4 mm and weighs 156.2 grams.
Both of Vivo X21 and X21 UD comes in three shades namely Black, Aurora White and Ruby Red. In terms of pricing, X21 64GB variant cost CNY 2,898 (approx. Rs.29,999) and 128GB comes with a price tag of CNY 3,198 (approx. Rs.32,999). The standard X21 UD bears a relatively higher price tag of CNY 3,598 which roughly translates into INR 36,999.
The Vivo X21 64GB and 128GB variants will begin their shipments from 12AM, March 24 while the UD variant’s orders will commence on same time 28th March, 2018. There is no official comments on India launch yet.
