A series of leaks about new smartphone launch by Xiaomi, which turns out absolutely true came to end as both Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 goes on floor officially in an event held at Beijing, China. Both the smartphones look almost similar with few differences in their specifications. USPs of both the devices are Full View Display, Large batteries and competitive price. Both device runs on Android Nougat 7.1.2 with stable MIUI 9 on the top.

Redmi 5 boast 5.7-inch HD+ Full view display (18:9 aspect ratio) with 1440 x 720 pixels screen resolution. Smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core processor clocked at speed of 1.8 GHz. Processor is souped up with 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM on one variant while second variant packs 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory which is expandable up to 128GB using hybrid slot. Redmi 5 is a dual sim smartphone that sports 12 MP camera at the back accompanied by LED flash and a secondary camera of 5 MP sensor which is again coupled with LED flash to click pictures even in no-light conditions. Mobile is further backed by 3300 mAH battery and a fingerprint sensor that is mounted on the back of the device.
Indian launch is not yet final, neither their prices. But converting Chinese prices to Indian currency, 2GB version should cost around Rs.7,999 while 3GB variant can have best price of Rs.8,999 only.

Redmi 5 Plus – Specifications and Price
Plus version – Black Colour
Second smartphone that is launched today looks almost similar to the basic regular version. But, Plus version has few upgrades such as 5.99-inch Full HD+ display (1080 x 2160 pixels screen resolution) with 18:9 aspect ratio that promises immersive wide screen effect in a compact frame panel. Redmi 5 Plus is powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset with eight cores clocked at 2.0 GHz speed. Again two RAM variants are announced, first one packs 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM and second one packs 4GB and 64GB internal storage. This one packs same cameras as the regular version i.e. 12 MP on rear panel and 5 MP on front panel. It is further backed by a large 4,000 mAH battery and again fingerprint sensor is mounted on the rear panel.
Expected price of Redmi 5 Plus 3GB version should be approx. Rs.9,999 and 4GB version can be priced at approx. Rs.12,999 only. Both the smartphones will be available in four colours – Black, Pink, Gold and Blue and goes on sale on 12th December, 2017 in China and registrations for the devices might open anytime. Indian launch for both Xiaomi smartphones is still awaited and so as the pricing.
