A month has not passed since the release of Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro and Xiaomi is ready to unveil a new smartphone in India. The company official took it to twitter to announce the launch of a new compact powerhouse smartphone. The latest handset is scheduled to release on 14th March and experts are assuming it as Xiaomi Redmi 5. Compact Powerhouse refers to a sleek and slim device with high battery capacity.
The Global VP and MD Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain tweeted about the launch in two back to back tweets. These tweets reads as;
Xiaomi also launched new range of televisions in relatively very low prices yesterday. The compact powerhouse can be the Redmi 5 smartphone, which has already hit Chinese markets last year in December, 2017. In China, The Redmi 5 Series offers two variants Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus, out of which latter has already made its way to India with a new name of Redmi Note 5. And, Redmi 5 is speculated to arrive on 14th March.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5, the successor of Redmi 4 is expected to be priced higher than Redmi 4 but lower than Redmi Note 5, most probably its price should start from Rs.7,999 in India. If we talk about specifications then, it runs Android Nougat customised MIUI 9.1 and supports dual SIMs. It sports a 5.7-inch HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio and 1440 x 720 pixels resolution.
Redmi 5 is powered by 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core CPU. Smartphone comes in several memory variants – 2GB RAM paired with 16GB internal storage, 3GB RAM paired with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM coupled with 32GB onboard storage. It is sleek and slim in design and measures 7.7-mm in thickness. Xiaomi Redmi 5 packs a 3300mAH battery and expected to get a bump in battery capacity for India. Fingerprint sensor is mounted on the back side of device. In terms of camera department, Redmi 5 sports 12 mega-pixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 5 mega-pixel sensor for taking selfies.
